Hey there crafty friends! Welcome to my blog, and to the Simon Says Stamp Diecember 2016 new release blog hop! Yeah! So happy to have you here today with me! You may have arrived from the lovely and talented Jessica's blog. I hope you enjoy the entire hop – I love these crafty women and their amazing designs. I can't wait to do the hop myself. Yesterday SSS released this AMAZING new line of die cuts for all occasions. Diecember is the month to celebrate the fact that we love using die cuts on our cards and other projects. There are some awesome new word dies, and some really innovative new designs. Hope you have fun today! CLICK HERE to see the entire new release!

PRIZE ALERT: Each stop on the hop will be awarding a prize of a $25 GIFT CARD to SIMON SAYS STAMP! Yay! To enter to win here on my blog, please leave a comment below telling me about your Christmas cards! Are you done? How many did you make? Are they all the same? I'd love to hear what your tradition is, and I know everyone will enjoy reading each others' comments. My Christmas cards are done and in a box on my desk…I do not like the addressing part so I am procrastinating right now! I write a Christmas letter every year too! Good Luck. I will pull my random winner Sunday night and notify you by email on Monday!

If you've visited my blog before, you know that I usually can't stop myself at one project… And today is no different. I am sharing a Christmas card first, and then some all-purpose general greeting cards to keep on hand in my studio. You can never have enough thank you cards or hello cards! Supply links are at the very bottom of my post.

First up, I reaaalllllyyyyy wanted to use this cool Fold Over Tree Die! It's the perfect size and scale for the front of a card and would also fit beautifully on a gift tag. I die cut the die along the fold of my green cardstock to get an entire tree. I cut two of them this way and layered them together. Take a look!

SIMON SAYS STAMP FOLD OVER TREE DIE. DIECEMBER 2016. CARD BY WANDA GUESS

Once my trees were die cut, I sprayed them with white spray and set them aside to dry. Next I stamped my stars background stamp in crisp white ink onto kraft cardstock. And set that aside to dry. My finished card is 5 x 5 square. I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of cream cardstock and hand cut that into a banner to go across my tree.

SIMON SAYS STAMP FOLD OVER TREE DIE. CHRISTMAS CARD BY WANDA GUESS. JOY TO THE WORLD. FALLING STARS BACKGROUND STAMP

For my accents I used a Tim Holtz Mirrored star and some Doodlebug Enamel Dots for ornaments. SO festive!!

I adhered the ends of the word banner with some clear glue. I keep some little clips in my studio to hold things like this together while they are drying. Makes it nice and secure!

It's almost time to put away all the Christmas crafting items and so I wanted to share a non-holiday related project today too! I used pretty rich gray cardstock with the gorgeous new Circle Leaves Die. I love this look! I added a layer of vellum behind the die cut and then layered colored cardstock behind that. It seems very elegant and could be for a man or a woman. These new word dies are going to get a LOT of use in my studio! LOVE.

SIMON SAYS STAMP CIRCLE LEAVES DIE. DIECEMBER 2016. CARD BY WANDA GUESS. HANDLETTERED GREETINGS DIES. SEQUINS AND VELLUM

I am seriously loving spraying everything with white ink right now! Ha! It's very hard to photograph the vellum – it looks prettier in person I think. I accented the cards with some matching sequins too. This would make a lovely card set to use as a gift in a box! The new Handlettered Greetings dies are so delicate and pretty. My prediction is that these will be the first item to sell out!!!

Oh sorry, I forgot to say about my Christmas cards!
They’re almost ready to send. They’re 20 and most of them are the same.

I love your cards again today Wanda…the first one reminds me of gingerbread and for the circle leaves I love how you showed all the variations and what a fabulous set you can get with a minimal amount of work! You could whip up a set of these in no time 😀
I wouldn’t say I am DONE my Christmas cards since I am still in the mood to make some…but I would say I have more than enough to cover me but I like the variety of picking and choosing and I find extra cards and tags make great teacher gifts as they may have left that till break time so it makes it easy and personal for them!

Aha! Thank you for the different take on the fold over tree die. I’m starting to see the possibilities. I already have the circle leaves and hand lettered greetings on my wish list, and I love the card you created with them! Thanks again.

Both cards are great! I really like how you sandwiched two of the trees, makes me think of Christmas cookies. The second one is so stylish.

Stunning creations! Thank for the chance. My cards are not done in full. I do a few at a time then mail out and repeat. I too, don’t enjoy the addressing part so I started doing preprinted labels. Easy peasy! As for traditions, lighting a candle to remember those that have passed on before opening gifts.

I love the vintage look of the tree card–great background stripe paper and a lovely font on the sentiment banner.
I made most of my cards last Dec/Jan when I was on a roll. I usually make 4-6 cards of each design (40 cards total). Since we moved, I mailed early this year with our new address. Now that they’re all mailed, I’m in the mood to make more after seeing great ideas on recent blog hops. I also ordered the new year stamp and cut add-on set from HA and will make some new year’s cards when it arrives.

I’m almost done with my Christmas cards this year. Altogether I’ve made a few hundred, because I participated in the Caring Hearts Card Drive. Crafting for a cause feels so good !
I used to make sets of cards as Christmas gifts. I started this a few years ago when money was tight, but my cards were so highly appreciated and demanded, that this is a yearly tradition now.
Lovely choice of colors for bringing the circle leaves to die life. Love this.

I thought my Christmas cards were done, lol! I made around 50 this year with 6 different designs, but I always seem to forget someone. I have a list, but friends/family move and others get married, so it’s hard to keep up-especially with my huge family! Thank goodness I LOVE cardmaking!

Love your cards! I’m still working on my Christmas cards. Fortunately, they all have to be mailed locally. I have something special planned so they are taking me a bit longer. That and I’m making them. I usually buy but I started card making a couple of months ago and I’m loving this journey so I wanted to share it with friends and family.

I need 3-4 more cards and my Christmas cards are finished. I’ve been working on them for a while because I don’t like to mass produce just one card. I finished all the cards I had to make for the December birthdays in our family and can now finish my Christmas cards. I love your tree card and all the dimension you created with the design. The Hello and Thanks cards using the Circle Of Leaves die (one of my favorites) are beautiful!

  34. Becky J (Mplsbetty) Avatar

Beautiful cards. I started making handmade cards last January. I was trying to make five cards a month for a challenge over at yourpaperpantry.ning.com. However, with life the past few months I didn’t make any. I have many handmade cards, but I typically send a picture card to friends since we have a three yearold. Given that I make A2 sized cards, I will use those for teachers and to send to other crafty friends.

They were finished by Thanksgiving and mailed on Dec 1st. This year was different as we are on vacation and things needed to be done earlier. Great hop!

I am almost done with my Christmas Cards, I have half a dozen left to assemble with images I stamped, colored & fussycut. I did a lot of coloring on my cards this year because its my first owning Spectrum Noir markers, and I’m addicted! These would be perfect to make a quick and easy set of cards. Very stylish. I love them. My Christmas cards are mostly completed. I don;t have my Christmas letter written yet but that goes to a limited number of people so I’m okay with that. I procrastinate with writing my addresses too but I also procrastinate with completing the inside of my cards. This year I must have made about 60 cards, all of them unique. My goal this weekend is to get them in the mail. Fingers crossed.

Your cards are fabulous! I am done with my Christmas cards. I made 50. Most of the time I make two designs of about 25 each. This year I made six designs and varied the amount of each depending upon the supplies I had on hand. Mailed them out on the 3rd of December so now I can concentrate on enjoying the month of festivities.

Your Christmas card is right up my alley. I love the warm, cozy “home with your family on a snowy night in a big warm sweater and comfy socks while you drink hot chocolate” feel of it- at least that’s what it says to me! Your second and third cards are so strikingly different, but the crisp clean and simple design is equally as beautiful. Absolutely beautiful cards Wanda. I was waiting to see who was going to use this Christmas tree in this way or as an ornament. Just beautiful!
As for my Christmas cards, luckily I made enough last year to cover this years season. (My Dad passed away on Oct. 29th after being ill for two months. Days later my 4 y/o grandson became ill and was in hosp. for 8 days so I cared for his 2 y/o brother during that time. Needless to say, I am behind this year on everything but now that things have settled down I am gearing up (late as I may be) for Christmas. My cards aren’t addressed yet but hopefully tomorrow. Clearly I won’t be sending as many this year…Thanks for the chance to win.

Fabulous cards… the first one has a vintage feel to me. I love it. The others are very classy and elegant… nice bunch to have on hand. My Christmas Cards are not done yet. I was traveling around on the first to see my hubby who is working in another state and I picked up a bit of strep throat. But when I hop back to it I make a few of the same and then change it up. Then once I am done I put on a good Christmas movie and address them. Then take them to the Post office pick a cheery stamp and throw them all in the box. Have made around 25.
They are all different, not everyone is the same;)
    You’ve made beautiful cards.

Love your cards. I haven’t started mine yet put will by the end of the week. I’ve been thinking about them and I’m anticipating they will be similar but not exactly the same. I might have 3 different main designs based on the relationship with the person I’m sending them too. I need to make about 20

Clever idea to get the dimensional tree!

I love how you popped up the sentiment and how elegant the second card looks! No holiday cards, but oodles of Thank You cards done… Two anniversary cards to do, three baby cards to do, and a few sympathy cards too. I usually make all my cards different, but I’m thinking of making 6 of each every time I do one so I’ll have extras on hand.

This is my first year to make all my own Christmas cards. I made many different ones but as the time crunch has gotten closer I made multiples of some of the easier ones! LOL! I have made about 35 so far and hope to get them out this week!

Love the 3D tree card. And the cards with Circle of Leaves die are gorgeous. This is my favorite die in the release and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

My plan is to make/send Christmas cards late since we are moving early in the new year…so everyone gets our new address!

I usually make about ten handmade cards each year for family and close friends and my husband sends out store bought cards for all his business contacts and neighbors. We moved recently and most of my craft supplies are still packed up. No homemade cards this year. 🙁 Thanks for the chance to win.

These are great! I appreciate the wait you used the tree. It gives another way to use the die. I’m totally loving that circle leaf die! This card is very pretty and elegant.

Those handwritten sentiments are already on my must-have list, and now, Miss Enabler, I must have the circle leaves too. You totally rocked those two dies! Beautiful cards, every one of them! Thanks for the inspiration.
