Hi friends! Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Hope you are planning fun times with friends and family. It's always a good idea to stop and remember the reason for the holiday. As you might know, if you've been reading my blog for a while, the DH and I are both military children. My father served in the Navy and my husband's father served in the Army. We are grateful for the service of our parents and for the sacrifices made by all military families. I salute our troops and I'm proud to be an American!
I made a card in honor of the holiday, using the new paper collection from Bo Bunny, called Liberty. It's perfect for Memorial Day and 4th of July!
I adore this denim ribbon from Stampin' Up! Don't you love red and denim together…always? I think the button is from Doodlebug.
This sentiment is from a patriotic Stampin' Up set that was released in 2001. It says it all… I stamped the stars background in versamark ink onto kraft cardstock. Added some red gems to the centers of the stars and also on the patterned paper for some shine.
Here is a flag picture I took in San Francisco back in March…there are actually two flags! Can you see the tiny one in the background? Is there anything more moving that a giant flag blowing in the wind? This one was a beauty.

Happy Memorial Day weekend to you too, Wanda! My grandfather served in WWII. My brother was in the Navy during the gulf war. Oh…my FIL recieved much of his medical training and money for college via the service. Wish there were not so much need for military. Makes me wonder if there are any families that didn’t have a member or two involved in the service? Well, have a good one! GREAT card, by the way! 🙂

What a beautiful card, Wanda! Love the patriotic design and that paper is just perfect. I so remember those Stampin’Up stamps, too. And I’ve been eyeing the denim ribbon for awhile….think I’m going to have to get it now. 🙂

Oh my! The red, white and blue and denim is so patriotic! I have some left over denim from a project and was wondering what to do with it. NOW I know. Thanks for sharing this. Fabulous flag picture. We put grandma’s old flag outside but nary a breeze to make it wave. The story with the flag is grandma was saying how old it was and how long it had been in the family, passed down from generation to generation. Finally I had to ask if it even had 50 stars on it. She had to count them. It does.
