Hey everyone! Popping in here on this Friday afternoon to share my latest crochet project…. BECAUSE IT’S FINISHED! YEAH!! Go me! This one took me a long time to finish and I was very happy to put the edges on and photograph it last week! It’s another Granny Square Blanket – because I totally love Granny Square Blankets! This one is for our home! It’s made from the nicest yarn I’ve ever worked with so far. It’s super soft Merino Wool. YUM. (Debbie Bliss Rialto DK). I chose a bunch of colors I liked and it came out so nice! I’m really proud of it – it’s the largest thing I’ve made so far. It’s finished at about five feet square. I think I will drape it over a chair in the family room for decoration and color. This is a great project for any level of crocheter. It’s just a giant Granny Square. You start like you’re making a small square, and just keep adding on rows until it’s the size you want. I have carried this thing with me everywhere! I love it already. Here’s some photos!! To finish this one I did two rows of single crochets. I thought it really needed a simple border this time…and no pom poms. LOL. I ended on a white row and my two single crochet rows are in that same white color so it looks finished.
And here are some photos of it along the way… Like I said… It’s been a minute since I started this one!! This yarn is so dreamy. Like a cloud. My crochet hook size was a G 4.0.

And there’s Lucky – creeping in the background! He really wants to get his little mittens on this!!

Congratulations on completing your Granny Square blanket. It looks beautiful and so soft! A piece to treasure for sure. I love Granny Squares, too, as they are so fun to crochet. I love the double crochet stitch. I get into such a groove with that stitch. Thanks so much for sharing. You’ve taken some beautiful photos along the way to completion, too. You are very talented. I just can’t believe your creativity. Each piece you work on is perfect and your colour choices are just lovely.
I have recently started to crochet, and in my wisdom have decided to make a blanket in shades of green to resemble fields for my new granddaughter ‘s Christmas. (We are going to buy some farm animals too. Honestly!) I now have 20 squares that need to be joined together, then edged and the fields trimmed with flowers, none of which I know how to do….yet. Good job I’ve plenty of time!
What a feeling of satisfaction when you finish a big project like a blanket. Your blanket looks so soft and warm. You finished it at the perfect time of the year when it’s cold and you can snuggle underneath it. Thank you for sharing your journey while creating this crochet project. Good Job!
Hmmm, your work is beautiful and inspiring! After all we can’t always be near an ink pad and paper!! I admire your social network and meeting with various groups to work on projects also. Something for a loner like me to ponder over.
Love the colors… you really do an awesome job. Your tension is perfect. I have a tendency to tighten up when I knit. My friend made me this exact same pattern about 38 years ago. Just red and white with larger rows. You should be very proud! See you Monday and have a great weekend.
