Discouraging news and an update!

Hello my sweet crafty bloggy friends…. I have discouraging news today in blogland. Not sure what's going to happen, but I need to say something! Yesterday I received a notice from the company that hosts my blog that they are shutting down business in 30 days! So I have FIFTEEN years of blogging content here that will completely disappear if I don't do something immediately. But I'm not sure what to do, or if it even matters anymore…. I'm terribly sad because I have poured my heart and soul into my little space here and I would really miss it. Some of you have been with me here since the very beginning and I love my community we've built. The thought of all my hard work just being gone is too much for me to process. There have been tears. But alas I have to process it – quickly. Also, none of my links are working for The Greetery. (Update I think they are working now)… If you tried to help me by shopping via my links, thank you. That is a separate issue that we are working on…. I'm having a hard time so say a little prayer for me!

If you are a tech guru and can help me migrate my blog content to another platform I would be immensely grateful for (paid of course) assistance! Just email me at stampcatwg@aol.com, or leave a comment here for me.

Stay blessed and not stressed! (convincing myself)

Oh Wanda, that’s upsetting news! I’m trying to think if I have any other blogging friends who might know how to save your content. I’m sure you’ve thought of asking AI/Google for help. Good luck! I’ll let you know if I come up with anything.

I’m in exactly the same boat Wanda, started my blog in August 2005… Not the anniversary I was expecting!
It looks like WordPress is the place to go, but I think the export will only include data and not images… so more plug-ins may be needed to make a successful transition.
Am hoping to get some advice from people who have done it before. I would also need to get myself a new domain too.
It’s a lot to take in with such short notice. The only upside will be not having to sit through 20 attempts to add an image to a blog post!
I just hope all the content I’ve created over the years can be moved over intact. The question is, how to do it before everything is shutdown and gone for good. 🙁

Ohhh Wanda…I actually have to google your blog to come on as it will not stay on my bloglist anymore which I thought was odd….but I too will be so disappointed to say the least as I refer to so many things you make. I have faith you will get this resolved…..
I love our visits every morning! So this will be very sad.

Oh, my gosh, it matters enormously! I’m so sorry this is happening to you and anyone else using TypePad; sorrier still that I have no technical expertise by which I might lend assistance. Your posts regularly bring beauty and smiles into my life, and I refer back to older entries more often than you might imagine. For all your work and presence over the years, I thank you. Prayers will be offered that the transition be made smooth, your content saved, and a new home found.

Looks like things are coming along nicely in your new blog space. 🙂
I ended up making the move to WordPress earlier this month – it was a steep learning curve for doing it on my own, but I am definitely enjoying the more stable platform and the ability to add images easily (without a gazillion repeated attempts and timeout issues).
Sadly, I’m going to have to manually add images back into posts as and when, as the transition of those didn’t work successfully with the plugin, and I’ve not got the means to enlist outside help for this project. But it’s a new start and a bit of a refresh. 🙂 Here’s to happier blogging! x
