  • Concord & 9th Feature Friday – New Release May 2022!

Whew! We made it to Friday! What a week it's been! SOOOO many projects and so many blog posts and fun stuff! Thanks for coming along and hanging out with me all week! I have one more post for the week – let's finish it off right! As you know, I'm one of the guest designers for the Concord & 9th May 2022 new release. Yay! I have two final cards to share with you, both made with brand new products. Everything is already available for shopping at C9 and it's my pleasure to share some inspiration with you! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thank you for keeping up with me and sharing the fun here with me all this week. XOXO

My first card today is showcasing the brand new SO KIND stamps and dies! (there are matching stencils too)! My finished card is an A2 card base. I used kraft and bright Clover green and pops of pink and yellow. This card feels very Summery to me.

concord and 9th, concord & 9th, concord and 9th big hugs die, concord and 9th garden party paper, concord and 9th positively stitched, concord and 9th you are so kind stamps and dies, stencils, handmade cards, diy, card ideas, die cutting, card layouts, concord & 9th guest designer, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

The suite of products comes with a big die that cuts out the letters all at once. You can use the outline or use the letters individually like I did here. The big "you are so kind" sentiment fills up a whole card. The matching stamp does the pretty leaves and flowers images onto the letters. Very cool. The tiny sentiment and banner is part of the set. I used the small flowers and leaves from the Picked Posie die set that was also released this month!! (Supplies are listed at the bottom of my post).

I was playing around with colors and I knew I wanted to use kraft and white… When I put that pretty Clover green next to it, it just popped!! So we went with green! LOL. I stamped and heat embossed the letters with white embossing. I die cut a second set of letters in green to be a shadow.

This is so pretty! I really like the font on that sentiment so much!

Next up – BIG hugs and pretty paper!! This card features the new Positively Stitched background dies. There is one that die cuts out the cross pieces and a second one that does the pierced crossed that fit underneath. My finished card is an A2 card base. All the papers/colors used are from Concord and 9th! I showcased the Positively Stitched products as part of my background and combined them with the Garden Party Paper Pack.

Here is a close up of the two dies and how they go together. Use each one separately or together! I used the BIG hugs die set and die cut out aqua, gold and vellum…to match the patterned paper. This card is nice and flat for mailing but still has a lot of design elements going on! I love using all different textures and patterns. So happy!!

  • Doodlebug Down on the Farm Collection – Pop Up Card!

Hi friends! Happy Monday again! How did that happen? And how is it May already? I hope you had a really nice weekend! We have been super busy lately and I love that – getting out and doing fun things and going places. It's been so good to get fresh air and be amongst other people having fun! Last week we went to a two day conference at church and it was AMAZING! The first day we were at church from 7:30am to 10:00pm! I think I'm still tired! LOL. Saturday we went to a beautiful Spring Market and out to breakfast. It's been good here and I'm very grateful. Hope you are doing great too! I have SOOOO many things coming up this month. I am terribly behind and I'll be crafting from sun up til sun down this week. It's all good and I'm looking forward to sharing it all with you my friends!!

Today is my day to post over on the Doodlebug Blog! I'm sharing my project here too, of course!! There are some new things coming soon (I can't wait) from Doodlebug, but until the new goodies arrive, the design team is working with the Down on the Farm Collection. I do love bringing new life and new ideas to some older products.

Today's card is an awesome pop up made with dies from C9, and a custom envelope too! It's all super fresh – farm fresh! I used the Concord & 9th Card Stacks Die Set to make this card. The other elements are all papers, scrapbooking pieces and embellishments from Doodlebug of course! The main base of the card was made with the pretty red buffalo check paper. The bottom or 'ground' of the pop up was made using 12×12 green gingham. All the supplies are listed at the bottom of my post!

Here's a top down view…. I started with the barn and sun in the back, then the fence in front. Then I filled in everything with hay, the cow, flowers and chickens. Everything is SO cute! I used a white gel pen to add accents to each element.

Since the paper is double sided, the back is already decorated!! I use the "happy birthday to moo" sentiment to make this a birthday card!

AND….the whole card folds flat for mailing! The barn and sun elements extend over the top of the back of the pop up die…. That means that I had to make my own envelope (which I love to do anyway)… If you don't extend over that back part, this folding card would fit into an A2 envelope.I used my envelope punch board and a sheet of paper from the collection to make a 6"x6" square envelope. My envelope perfectly matches the card and that's something I really like!! Makes it feel even more special.

Okay friends, that's it for today's project! Thanks for coming by my little farm today! I hope you have a great week!! XOXO

  • Doodlebug Easter Carrot Treats!

Hi crafty friends! Happy Monday and Happy Easter Week! I'm up on the Doodlebug Blog and here on my blog today to share some cute Easter carrots I made with the Doodlebug Hippity Hoppity Collection! Just in time for some Spring and Easter crafting. These fun paper carrots would be great at each place setting for your holiday table, or little gifts for friends and co-workers. They are super easy to make and fun too! I filled my treat carrots with chocolate eggs and can't wait to give them away! CLICK HERE for the simple directions to make the shape/template. This would also be a really fun project to do with the kids or grandkids!

I used orange and green papers from the Doodlebug Floral Graph 6×6 Paper Pad and the Doodlebug Swiss Dot 6×6 Paper Pad. I used the carrot die cut from The Greetery to make the greens on top. I glued the greens inside before I sealed up the top end of the carrots. (Be sure to tuck the candy inside!)

I used pieces from the Hippity Hoppity Collection Chit Chat pack to decorate the front of the carrots. I used some Chunky Twine, Bunny Sprinkles, and small green clothespins to add at the top for more decorations. I die cut pretty scallop circles in white cardstock to be the base for the messages.

I added stickers to the front and a few mini jewels too, for a little bit of shine! I used my paper crimper to crimp the top and bottom of the carrots and add a decorative element. Crimping also secures the tape holding them together. I die cut the carrot top pieces from different shades of green polka dot papers! So festive and fun.

  • Sowing Seeds of Kindness cards!

Hellllloooooooo friends! I'm here today to send you some seeds of kindness!! Remember a couple weeks ago I made the cute market cart card with the Honey Bee Stamps new release?? Well, today, I'm using more goodies from their new release! Yay! My two cards use the brand new Seeds of Kindness Stamp Set and the Seed Packet Die. I love anything that has that vintage seed pack vibe and these stamps are SO pretty!

I made two cards that are basically the same – one in yellow and one in red. My finished cards are A2 card bases in woodgrain cardstock. I layered red and yellow cardstock and then a pretty scallop layer. I wrapped each card in vellum and twine before I attached the main elements…

In this photo you can see all the paper layers…. And isn't that lemon image beautiful!!?? I used my favorite watercolor paints to color the image. I cut out the image with small detail scissors. The kraft part is actually a seed packet!! I made it from kraft cardstock and lined it with gingham. I put the image on the top using foam tape. I gave a little splash of white paint too.

I put a doily under the vellum wrap and added some little flower and heart embellishments from my stash. I do love the watercolors with these images!!

Here is a photo of just the seed packets before I put them onto the cards. They would perfectly fit a small note and/or a gift card. I could see putting one of these on a skewer in a plant to give someone??!!

  • Easter Tumblers and Tags!

Hello! Greetings and Salutations crafty friends! My project for today is happy and cheerful for Easter giving! I made a few super cute Easter tags to go onto tumblers as gifts for some of my friends in my Bible Study group. I wanted a simple and sweet little something to bring with me to share a bit of Easter joy. I bought the bright tumblers at Walgreens and added some Easter grass and a few candies inside. Then I made Easter tags to put on each one. I used supplies from Pretty Pink Posh, Lawn Fawn and Simon Says Stamp to make this project. All the supplies are listed at the bottom of my post! Cheers!

Here are my finished tumblers. I used double sided tape to mount the tags onto the front of them. The letters are their initials so it could be somewhat personalized for each person. A little bit of my favorite gingham paper and that ribbon… That ribbon said 2006 on the package! LOLZ. You never know when you might need something! Ha.

Here are my finished tags! I die cut the tags from white cardstock and then used separate dies to add that pretty edge at the bottom. I stamped and die cut out the chicks and bunnies… I die cut out the circles and letters to make the initial part.

I colored those adorable critters with Copic Markers and added white gel pen accents to everything. I stamped the pretty sentiment at the bottom of the tags. I used two circles to bring emphasis to the initials.

  • The Greetery – Breath of Spring New Release – Day 2!

—->  NOTE: I HAVE TWO BLOG POSTS TODAY! FOR THE PRETTY PINK POSH BLOG HOP POST CLICK HERE! THANK YOU!

Hi friends! Welcome to Day Two of ideas, projects and product reveals for the gorgeous new "Breath of Spring" release from The Greetery! What did you think of yesterday?? Do you have a favorite item yet? The other designers are blowing me away with their cards!! I have three cards to show you today! I am SO excited! Today is day two, the final day, of reveals. All of the new items will be available for shopping tomorrow, Thursday March 17th at 10am EST! Start making your list!

First up today is a French Vintage inspired card featuring the brand new Botanicuts-Crocus Dies, and lots of other Greetery goodies! The finished card is an A2 kraft card base, layered with purple gingham and cream cardstock. This card is definitely a 'more is more' card and it brought me a lot of joy to sit and create it! I was inspired by a French country market, where you can gather up a bouquet of flowers (fleurs) in brown paper wrapping and smile on down the street!

the greetery, the greetery stamps and dies, the greetery new release, the greetery breath of spring, stamping, die cutting, handmade cards, Botanicuts dies, botanicuts crocus, botanicuts pussy willow, amen dies, the greetery curio spring, distress ink blending, floral cards, card ideas, the greetery curio, card layout ideas, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

Here is a close up of the pretty new Crocus dies! My favorite Crocus color is violet/purple/dark blue. In fact, we have some popping out in our front yard right now! It was very easy to assemble these florals, and Betsy will include a guide in the package to help you. I used purple and lavender cardstock and used Distress Inks around the edges of the petals for a bit more detail and dimension. If you look closely, you can see the Botanicuts-Carrots carrot tops as filler greenery.

I went really vintage with this card. The flower wrap die is a discontinued die from another company, but I think you could craft one by folding a square of cardstock!! I inked and splattered and stamped the wrap part.

the greetery, the greetery stamps and dies, the greetery new release, the greetery breath of spring, stamping, die cutting, handmade cards, Botanicuts dies, botanicuts crocus, botanicuts pussy willow, amen dies, the greetery curio spring, distress ink blending, floral cards, card ideas, the greetery curio, card layout ideas, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

Here's another close up of the Crocus and greenery. I generously splattered on some white paint as well. The "Fresh Picked" words are from the Mason Jar set from The Greetery!

I used the beautiful Bold Alphabet Dies to die cut the French word for Flowers! I die cut the Spring Word Die in a pretty olive green.

In this photo you can see my paper layers and my stamping layers. I die cut a little tag for the flowers and tied it with natural twine. One little heart does the trick! I inked the edges of the tag with Distress Ink.

the greetery, the greetery stamps and dies, the greetery new release, the greetery breath of spring, stamping, die cutting, handmade cards, Botanicuts dies, botanicuts crocus, botanicuts pussy willow, amen dies, the greetery curio spring, distress ink blending, floral cards, card ideas, the greetery curio, card layout ideas, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

My next card features the whimsical and wonderful Curio Spring elements! Oh man. LOVE LOVE LOVE these! A little snail, a fern, a bird nest….all so pretty! My finished card is an A2 Woodgrain card base, layered with white and then inked all up in shades of Spring green and sky blue. I used the Curio II dies to make my card grid. Instead of using the frame from the Curio set, I used the other pieces to create my own grid! I wanted each item to have it's own little area.

The bird nest has three little eggs that fit inside!! The nest is two layered pieces. The leaves are separate and the eggs are separate so it's easy to die cut everything out!!

the greetery, the greetery stamps and dies, the greetery new release, the greetery breath of spring, stamping, die cutting, handmade cards, Botanicuts dies, botanicuts crocus, botanicuts pussy willow, amen dies, the greetery curio spring, distress ink blending, floral cards, card ideas, the greetery curio, card layout ideas, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

The butterfly is from the Summer Curio set! I chose to used just two main colors to make my card. I inked each small square with Distress inks, just at the top. I die cut everything from colored cardstock and then used Distress Inks and Copic Markers over the cardstock to add emphasis.

the greetery, the greetery stamps and dies, the greetery new release, the greetery breath of spring, stamping, die cutting, handmade cards, Botanicuts dies, botanicuts crocus, botanicuts pussy willow, amen dies, the greetery curio spring, distress ink blending, floral cards, card ideas, the greetery curio, card layout ideas, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

I glued on the big Spring word die! I added white and clear droplets to look like Spring morning dew.

the greetery, the greetery stamps and dies, the greetery new release, the greetery breath of spring, stamping, die cutting, handmade cards, Botanicuts dies, botanicuts crocus, botanicuts pussy willow, amen dies, the greetery curio spring, distress ink blending, floral cards, card ideas, the greetery curio, card layout ideas, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

And my final card for today features the brand new Botanicuts-Pussy Willows and the new Amen Dies! A big burst of yellow! I always love to craft with yellow in the Spring time! My finished card is an A2 kraft card base, layered with gingham and yellow cardstock. My big circle element and the Pussy Willows are cream cardstock. The Amen and Alleluia stamp set has smaller accompanying sentiments so my card says "can I get an…AMEN!"

If you're on Instagram, be sure to head over and see all the projects and leave comments to have a chance to win a PPP gift certificate!! So many pretty projects. Once again, a very very happy birthday to Pretty Pink Posh! The new release is available now for shopping!

For my card I decided that Pretty Pink Posh should have pretty pink presents!! The new Build A Gift Dies are wonderful! The right size and scale, so perfect for birthday (and Christmas) cards! My finished card is an A2 white card base layered with pink, vellum and then white. I used light pink, bold pink and gold as my color palette… So feminine and festive! I'm reminded that I need to make more birthday cards!

I started by die cutting out a bunch of presents and bows and then I played around with the layout until I got the stack just right! I added enamel dots in pink and gold to finish off with a bit of sparkle.

Pretty Pink Posh has the most beautiful script sentiments. This die actually says "happy birthday to you" so I die cut it from bold pink and then snipped off the 'to you' portion to make it fit on my card. PERFECT!!

  • Love is in the air!

Hi friends! By the end of this post you'll be humming the "up, up and away" song in your head! I have some exciting news and a happy card to share with you today. Hope you've been having a great week so far! It's almost Valentine's Day and I have a few heart/love themed projects to show you before the holiday comes. Today, my project is featured on the Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine Blog as part of their Valentine Week celebration! I'm so happy to be a guest on the magazine's blog. Super fun!

My card features stamps and dies from Concord & 9th's January Collection….and I totally love it all! My finished card is a white A2 card base that I covered with pink Cardstock. A crisp white layer (white hearts!) and then those awesome hot air balloon dies! I used a fresh color palette of red, white and aqua, with a few pops of pink. Let's look!

    1

    Sct blog wanda

One of the (many) things I love about Concord & 9th is that they always think of the details! Like that little flag to go on top of the balloons!! I started this card by die cutting the gorgeous Stitched Hearts Background in white. Then I die cut out all of the balloon pieces, the hearts, and the clouds. I also die cut the 'love' word for my sentiment. I love the red and white stripes – feels sort of old fashioned and vintage.

    1

Instead of using black for your die cut sentiments, use a dark grey instead. It gives the same effect, but is not as harsh as true black. I used grey to die cut the pretty 'love' sentiment that goes across the bottom of my card. I used woodgrain cardstock for the baskets to add some texture, and I kinda thought it looked like a basket!

    1

I added pink hearts to the front of the balloons and also splashed on a bit of white paint. I created the banners across the balloons using Aqua Sky Cardstock and Vellum. I tucked in a few clouds behind the balloons. This is all so whimsical and fun!!

    1

I used foam tape to attach the balloons to the page. I love dimension on my cards, as you know! I think this is the perfect Valentine card! But it could also easily be a wedding card or a just because card.

Thanks for spending part of your day with me! Have you been creating valentines? Such a happy holiday!

  • Happy Zesty Lemons!

Hello friends! How are you this week? I hope you are doing well and feeling good! Before I get started with sharing my project I wanted to say a few words. I've been mostly absent from social media, and not blogging as much as normal, lately. A lot of you have kindly reached out to me here, and on Instagram especially, to ask about me. The truth is, this year is only a few weeks old but it's already kicking me in the booty. I've been really sick for almost three weeks now. There are no Covid tests available here, but I'm pretty sure that's what got me. (We ordered our test kits and hope they show up soon, but by then I'll be better!) I haven't left our house in 15 days! I'm usually a very busy and social person and it's been so hard! I can only really remember being this sick a handful of times in my life. It has gotten me down, down, down. Like really down. I've been laying low and taking care of myself and sleeping SO much. My energy is practically non existent and my mental health is wavering. Lots of time in prayer and the love of a dear husband and sweet kitty have been sustaining me. For me, creating and crafting is a happy activity so I find it hard to create when I don't feel well. I also don't really feel like doing social media when I don't feel cheery. I have missed my daily Instagram Stories with you and hope to get back to that soon. My super power is pretending I'm fine – even when I'm clearly not fine. I'm sure lots of you relate to that coping mechanism…. It's okay to not be fine. The whole past two years have been slowly chipping away at my positive and joyful outlook on life. I feel weary and heavy. I'm only telling you all of this because I know I'm not alone – and maybe me saying something will make someone else feel understood. This recent time of our lives has been a test, a battle, a marathon. We're all doing the best we can and we all need grace. I've been stumbling and that's okay. The lesson, I think, is to not be so hard on ourselves. Rest when needed. One day at a time. I am feeling somewhat better today, finally, thank God. So I spent some time in the craft room and made something pretty!! I'm sending everyone a big giant hug and lots of love. Hang in there – whatever you're dealing with – I love you. Thanks for supporting me. XOXO

My card today features some lovely zesty lemons from Spellbinders! These dies have been on my desk for at least a month and I've been dying to make a card. I love lemons as a design element. I chose a retro 50's color palette and used a beautiful background die that reminds me of a pretty 50's tablecloth. These dies are SO pretty and the creating was fun and easy. My finished card is an A2 card base in white. I layered pretty aqua paper and then a vellum circle…

I started by die cutting out all the necessary pieces…lemons, leaves, flowers and sentiment…. I used my mini distress inks and a small sponge dauber to gently ink around the leaves and lemons. I used Copic Markers to add color accents to the flowers. I used lots of the brand new gems from Spellbinders! They are so sparkly and pretty in person.

The lemons die set has the main leaf cluster, and then leaf halves that you can die cut from a second color. I chose two shades of happy yellow/green. In this photo you can really see that pretty background die. Love it!

I used dark grey cardstock for the sentiment and put it onto a circle to make it stand out. I really like this font – it also had that retro feeling I was going for! At the last moment I added some pink flowers from another die set. I really felt like I wanted a tiny pop of pink on this card.

  • Cute Little Valentine Skunks!!

Hi everyone! How is your week going?! My week has been great so far. Our 49ers made it into the playoffs in overtime! Whew! The weather has been perfect! And….My church is doing a five day Bible Conference and my husband and I have been going to church every day. It has been so uplifting and fun and inspiring. Lots of singing and tons of good, thoughtful messages. It has been a restorative and wonderful way to start off the new year. The first night there were almost 3000 people at church. How amazing is that? I find it very good for my soul to see that many people so eager to hear the word of God and commit to coming to church every day. Looking forward to two more nights.

Today's post is about SKUNKS! LOLZ. Skunks???? Yes!! In our neighborhood there is a lot of open space/natural area… and we have lots of critters around all the time. At least a couple of times a year I'll wake up in the middle of the night and know….'we got skunked!' There is no mistaking that smell. But, you do have to admit, they are kinda cute, especially the babies!! Today's skunks are courtesy of the new Lawn Fawn release for Valentines Day 2022! I couldn't resist! Lots of photos in this post, so grab a cuppa and hang out with me for a bit! XO

    TODAY'S SUPPLY LIST LINK HERE!

I used the new Tiny Gift Box Skunk Add-On dies to create some treat boxes and a card that matches. You already know I love those tiny treat boxes!! (CLICK HERE for the ones I made last year for Valentines)The skunk is the add on for this year. It is meant to attach to the front of the treat box die, but it also totally works to make a stand alone critter for a card. Let's look at the card first, and then the treats!

This finished card is an A2 card base. I used the brand new quilted heart background die in white and put pink paper behind it. This die completely covers the front of the card. I layered red cardstock and then my elements.

You just die cut once, then fold and glue it together. Then the add-ons just get glued on to the front side of the box. It's one of my fav dies.

  • Happy New Year and Cheers to 2022!

Hi friends! One more day until it's another new year! Can you even believe it? I can't! I'm gonna say – good job on making it through this past year. We did it! We made it! It's been a hard, crazy, mixed up time – that's for sure! But here we are on the brink of new opportunities and a fresh start. I am sending everyone a giant hug for the new year. I wish you nothing but peace, happiness, health and love in 2022. I do really hope that we get a break and we can get back to hanging out with our friends and having fun. Thank you so much for encouraging me this past year and for always showing me kindness and love. I am so grateful for all of you!!! This crazy crafting community is such a bright spot in all the darkness. Bless you and thank you! Happy New Year!

Before I forget!!! THE GREETERY is having a HUGE sale right now – for one more day! If there's something you've had your eye on, pop on over to check out the sale items! Yay!

I have one final card for 2021 to share with you! Of course, it's a New Year card! I went with a super muted and 'quiet' color palette and also a different sized card. I felt like making something just a bit different!! I used lots of kraft cardstock and lots of mixed embellishments to give the aura/feeling of champagne bubbles! Let me know what you think! The finished card is 6.5" x 3.5" and it's three layers of kraft. I distressed the edges and each layer is attached with foam tape so the card has lots of dimension and depth.

stamping, die cutting, card making, paper crafting, scrapbooking, make your own cards, tim holtz, sizzix, swirling stars dies, pretty pink posh, kraft paper, new year card, happy new year card, card ideas, card layouts, handmade, diy, craft ideas, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

The main element is that AWESOME swirling stars die cut! Oh man, I love it!! All those stars are one die cut. I used it twice, once on each side of the card. The other main element is that beautiful script happy new year die. I used rich black cardstock to make it pop.

At first I had the script words directly onto the top card layer. But it felt like it needed something so I added a vellum circle to highlight it. I used my favorite gold paint to splash gold all over the card. Can you see it?

I went through my embellishment bins and found items in a 'champagne' color palette: gold, cream, bronze, clear… This is the first time I've tried mixing lots of different embellishments together and I have to say I really like it!! Seems super festive.

I die cut some gold stars to add onto the card and the vellum part.

  • Peppermint Cocoa Anyone!?

Hi crafty friends! I'm back! I made a super cute card yesterday and I couldn't wait to share it! So you guys know that I love Pumpkin Spice everything, right? Well, as soon as it turns winter, I loooooove Peppermint + Chocolate everything! LOL. So predictable! I love Peppermint Mochas from Starbucks and I REALLY love the Peppermint shakes at Chik-fil-a! OOOH LA LA. This card has a funny story…. The coffee/cocoa mugs are made with a Halloween die set! The die set is called Boo Brew and I loved it the second I saw it. So much so, that I ordered and bought it TWICE! But then fall came and went and I never even used it (either of them, LOL)…. Well the dies were in my 'in basket' on my desk and I got the creative wheels turning…. And out emerged this Winter themed card with a Halloween die set! Yay! I hope you're having a good week – sorry for the long story. Let's look at my card!

The finished card is an A2 card base that I covered with peppermint striped paper from the new Doodlebug collection!! All the light colored parts are cream cardstock, not white. I wanted a bit of a vintage flair to this one. I used stamps and dies from lots of companies for this card. Supplies are listed at the bottom of my post.

winter, christmas, coffee, cocoa, peppermint, card, handmade card, stamping, die cutting, trinity stamps, trinity stamps boo brew, lawn fawn magic holiday messages, ellen hutson, simon says stamp, coffee card, card ideas, peppermint mocha, coffee loving paper crafters, scrapbooking, papercrafting, make your own christmas cards, vintage, distress ink, retro, holiday, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

So if you imagine this mug in orange, can you see the pumpkin sections now?? I did red/red tone on tone to make it look like a fancy mug. I used red cardstock and then inked the edges with Brick Distress ink for depth. I glued on a snowflake (cream cardstock) and made a candy cane and a Gingerbread Man too! The leaves are supposed to be the pumpkin leaves, but I used them as holly!! The candy cane die and the Gingerbread man die are both old and discontinued from Taylored Expressions.

  • Vintage Style Christmas Cards – it’s almost December!

Hi everybody! Can you believe tomorrow is December 1st? Now Christmas is gonna be here like in a blink of an eye!! We decorated the house over the weekend and switched everything from Fall to Christmas. It looks really pretty and happy at our house and I like it!! I got down the bins (yes, bins) of Christmas apparel so I can be festive all December long! Yeah, I'm the crazy lady who wears Christmas sweaters!! I have gathered quite a collection over the years. I have one sweater still that's about 25 years old now. Tomorrow I'm going to be doing gift wrapping at the mall with our church and I cannot wait. I LOOOOVE wrapping presents! I signed up for a couple of shifts of wrapping. I'm thinking about Christmas cooking and it's like Santa's workshop here in the craft room. The entire floor is covered in Christmas stuff. Ha. I hope you are doing great this week. Sending a big holiday hug your way today!

On Sunday I had a 'free' day in the craft room to make whatever I wanted – no rules or assignments. I had some cool Tim Holtz products on my list to use and decided to make some vintage style Christmas cards to share with you. These are 'all day' cards. Hahaha. Waiting for layers to dry and adding more and more stuff to everything. Love it. I don't do this kind of crafting enough!! Both of these cards are big fat squares – more room for stuff. Let's get started.

The focal point of this card is Mr. Winston the Snowman!! Isn't he dapper in his top hat?? This is a Tim Holtz Die set called Winston – Colorize! There are tons of pieces and layers and coolness. There were a lot of different routes to go with this die set… I decided to die cut out all the pieces from Watercolor paper and then I used Distress Inks to color all the pieces. For the card I layered kraft and plaid papers and then stamped and inked another watercolor panel for the top.

The sentiment is from the Labels Sticker Pack – I thought he was Holly Jolly!! The die set comes with a broom for Winston. I didn't really want to use the broom so I started rummaging through all my die sets. BAM! I found it – the Tattered Florals set has a perfect branch to make Winston some arms! What do you think?? And in his hand he's holding a big fat heart!

Here's a close up of the snowman – you can see the die cut layers…. Everything is colored with Distress Inks. When I watercolor with my Distress Inks I used my minis and I smush some ink onto a big stamping block. I keep some water nearby and add water as I go. This is a great way to watercolor!! The ink is super forgiving and easy to layer.  I also die cut two holly branches to make some greenery behind him. Lots of Rock Candy Glitter!! I made some snow too! I improvised and mixed together some Embossing Paste and some white Nuvo drops to make a paste to look snowy. Then of course, I covered it in more glitter!!

For the background, I stamped some postmarks and some snowflakes. The snowflakes are so funky – from the Snarky Cats stamp set!! In this photo you can see the scarf – it's four pieces!!!! Nice and thick.

This next card is classic vintage Christmas with a big bold beautiful poinsettia!! I bought the Tim Holtz Mica Sprays and the first idea that came to mind was using them on my favorite poinsettia dies!! Guess what?? It came out so nice! I layered kraft and black paper, then Tim Holtz patterned paper. The plaid portion I stenciled with the TH Plaid Stencil onto watercolor paper in Evergreen Bough Ink.

The pieces for the poinsettia were die cut from watercolor paper to be nice and sturdy for lots of ink! I sprayed the petals and leaves using only the Holiday Mica Spray Stains. I let them dry for quite a while. I used Icicle Crackle Paste on top of the colors…. It's more subtle than I was hoping…. I would have done it again but it took a really long time to dry. I was looking for bigger cracks – but I don't think I put on a thick enough layer. I splattered some white paint onto the pieces….and glitter….and snow….

I stenciled the plaid stencil using a blender brush and Evergreen Bough ink. Then I used Vintage Photo Ink and a sponge dauber to go around the edges of the plaid panel. I splashed on some ink splatters too, to make it look aged.

  • TGIF – The Greetery Inspiration Friday – Colorful Christmas Trees!

Hi crafty friends! I'm excited to craft and share today for TGIF on The Greetery Blog! And of course, I love to share here too! It's always fun to share a project on The Greetery Blog!! I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. We had a super quiet and peaceful Thanksgiving at our home. Lots to be grateful for, that's for darn sure. Now, it's time to finish up our Christmas crafting and creating and start the holiday season in earnest. Today I have a suite of projects with a jolly, merry, holiday theme: A card, a gift card holder, and some pretty tags. I used the same Greetery stamps and dies for all the items so it all matches and would be perfect for giving a gift to a special friend. Let's look!

I started by choosing a bright and happy color palette of mid tone colors: Greens, pinks and aqua….then I used some vellum and silver too. It's all icy and sparkly. I used the tree die from Christmas Time in the City to die cut out about 20 of those fabulous trees. That was my main element. I used the dies from the Snowflake Soiree suite to die cut silver snowflakes. I die cut tags using the new Tag Team Duo Dies. I laid out all the designs first and mixed and matched elements until I liked it. I splattered everything with white paint (snow!) of course. Here's a close up of the card. A mix match of trees and a few snowflakes. Then that pretty sentiment in black to set it off! My layers are aqua, vellum and white. I love these colors. (I'm really into pink this year for Christmas already)

This was my tree lot! LOLZ. I did red trees too, but when I started to put all my items together, the red didn't look right to me… So I'll save those red trees for something else! This makes me happy.

Here are my matching tags. I used the new Tag Team Duo dies to cut out two white tags from super thick cardstock (See supply list)… I used aqua ribbon, Nordic Circles, vellum…and all the pretty winter things…. I got the pastel bells from Amazon!

  • Honey Bee Stamps new holiday release – WOW!

Hellllooooooo! Monday again already! I was super busy this weekend crafting and creating and photographing all kinds of crafty projects! Looking forward to sharing everything with you! Hope you had a great weekend! Only a couple weeks until Thanksgiving and then the rest of the year will be gone in a flash. Whew can't believe we almost made it through this hard, weird year. I always think – thank GOD for crafting! To keep me occupied and busy, and keep me from losing (all) my marbles. Creating and sharing definitely keeps me sane. Thanks for being here with me to share and enjoy our love of papercrafting!!

Today's post features new items from the fantastic new release from Honey Bee Stamps! Their new collection is called Vintage Holidays and it's perfect. I literally wanted EVERYTHING!! Snowmen, flowers, mailboxes, word dies, snowflakes….all the good things for Winter Holidays!! I have three cards to show you. Let's get started!!

First up is a card made featuring the new Anemone Dies and the Post Perfect Stamps and Dies. OOH LA LA LA LA LA!! You know I am already obsessed with Honey Bee Flower dies!! Well, the newest one is a gorgeous Anemone. So easy to put together and get a perfect result. I made a vintage postcard inspired card…. The finished card is a horizontal A2 card base made from woodgrain paper. I layered cream cardstock and then my design elements.

I die cut the flower pieces from blue cardstock. Each flower has three petal pieces and three center pieces. We used to have blue Anemones in our yard, and they were so pretty. So I knew right away I wanted to make blue ones. But these flowers come in almost every color!

I used Distress ink to ink the centers of the flower petals and glue to attach them together. I only glued the very center, and then turned up the petals with my fingers. Super easy!!

  • TGIF – The Greetery Inspiration Friday – Winterberry Postcard Christmas Card!

Hi there, crafty friends! Happy Friday! And Halloween weekend….and it's almost my birthday! EEP. So much going on right now!  I'm excited to be up on The Greetery Blog today!! It's The Greetery Inspiration Friday! I'm also posting the project here too so we can share.  Like a lot of you,  I fell head over heels with the new Christmas release earlier this month. It was all so very very pretty. So, today I'm sharing another idea for using the Winterberry Stamps, Stencils and Dies. Definitely one of my favorite things from the release. It is such a beautiful suite of products and it makes my retro loving heart happy. My card was inspired by old postcards and Christmas cards from the 50's and 60's so I used lots of glitter and classic Christmas colors.

My finished card is a horizontal A2 sized card made from red cardstock. I layered woodgrain cardstock and then cream cardstock. I created the background by ink blending shades of yellow Distress Inks. I also stamped over the ink blending with these stamps: Pretty Postmarks and Christmas Time in the Country. I inked the edges of the Postal layer with Distress Ink also. There's a lot going on here – but I love it all!

I used the Winterberry Stamp/Stencil Combo to ink up that pretty floral spray and die cut it out with the matching die. I added lots of glitter! The sentiment is from the Snowflake Soiree Dies set – and I die cut it from silver glitter cardstock. A few pearls were added for dimension and embellishment. I made postage stamps using the smallest ornament from the Curio: Ornaments die set. I thought I needed some vintage postage stamps for this project! My goal was retro fun!

Here's a side view so you can see all the layers. I wish I would have remembered to take a photo of just the background… Sometimes I get too excited while I'm crafting and I forget to stop and take a photo!! I used a cream panel and blended yellows just in the center. Then I used accent stamps over the ink blending, and also some white snow splatters. I popped in a bit of teal with the traditional red and green.

Remember how old Christmas cards had bits and bobs of chunky glitter? I tried to achieve that messy effect here. I used liquid glue and Rock Candy Distress Glitter – my favorite glitter of all time.

  • Christmas Magic with Concord & 9th!

Hi friends! I know it's been A LOT of Christmas here lately! Whew. Everyone is trying to get their holiday releases out early so we have time to create and craft. But, dang. It's been so busy (in the best way)!! I think we can get back to Fall crafting here soon, but first, today, I have some Christmas magic to share with you with stamps and dies from Concord & 9th! Greg, the owner, and I have become friends over the years and have shared a lot of laughs together and spaghetti wrapped in pizza (that's a whole other story)…. He's the best. So when I saw the C9 Christmas release I let out an audible gasp! What??? How do they do it?? I told Greg, and he put the whole release to me in the mail. I am very blessed. VERY blessed. The C9 Christmas release this year has so much to love. I'm sharing two cards today, and I have more ideas brewing in my head… Can't wait to share these with you. They've been ready, but I was waiting for all the goodies to be back in stock!

First up – FA LA LA indeed! A pop up Christmas Village!! Adorable!! And, it folds down flat to mail it. Genius. GENIUS! I used the new Card Stacks Base Die (gonna use this a lot – couldn't be easier) to make the frame for the village. I used the Home For the Holidays Dies and the Fa la la die for the top. I combined some other previously released favorites and used the wonderful C9 color cardstocks….

Here's a side view to see all the layers and snow capped roof tops!!! Oh, and those treeeeeeessssss… And those teeny tiny lamp posts!!! Oh my.

The background was made using the C9 Swirls Dies (one of my all time favorite crafting things)…. I put the fa la la across the top using clear glue. Is anyone else singing the Who-ville song???

Here's the top down view…. The Card Stacks Base is a set of four dies. You die cut the main background piece and then three cross pieces. Glue them into place and then decorate! Believe me – I am challenged by construction cards – but this was so easy. I used the snow drift die to make little hills instead of straight cross pieces. I added glitter glue…

Here's the back. I die cut a second one out of aqua to put on the back to make it colorful. But you don't have to do this step.

Here it is folded flat!! You know I'm extra, so I have pieces hanging off the top. I will use an A6 envelope. If I kept it more simple, It would fit into an A2 envelope. Genius.

Next up is a card I made using the beautiful O Holy Night stamps set. OH MY GOODNESS. That font! The jumbo stamp! The message! I love everything about this. My first idea that popped into my head was "chalkboard technique" for that stamp…. So I made a chalkboard card. But then, after, as I sat and looked at it, it really just looks like a snowy blizzardy night sky! Either way?! LOL. I layered some plaid paper from my stash (from Michael's I think)…

I used the trees and house dies from the same set as the top card. But I made a little country church! I made a cross from woodgrain cardstock. I think it came out perfect.

I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder onto black linen cardstock. After it was embossed, I splattered some white paint/snow onto it. Then I used white pigment ink and a sponge dauber to add some white ink (ie chalkboard style) to the panel.

  • Happy 4th of July 2021! Sharing some patriotic cards with Taylored Expressions!

Happy 4th of July! It's a day to celebrate and come together as Americans and be grateful we live in this wonderful country. Our house is decorated with a patriotic theme and we've got burgers ready for later! It's not too hot outside this weekend – it's all perfect! I have a couple of cards to share with you today to celebrate the occasion!  To me, certain stamp companies do certain themes really well… And my go-to for Patriotic themed stamps and dies has always been Taylored Expressions! I have never gotten rid of any of my America/4th/Patriotic supplies from TE – for the past 12+ years!  I used all Taylored Expressions stamps today…. And, some of the stamps are old, and some are new…. But all are awesome! I have two cards to share, both using the beautiful new Sketched Flag background stamp. One is a bit more vintage shabby chic and one is more clean and simple….

First up is the vintage one – because I love vintage Americana…. The finished card is a cream cardstock A2 card base covered in patterned paper from my stash – that's actually the Star Spangled Banner printed out! I used the brand new Sketched Flag background stamp and the beautiful Handlettered 4th of July stamps and dies….And the USA outline die (which is discontinued)

I used cream cardstock and my MISTI to stamp the flag background. I used distress inks and then sprayed the stamp with water before stamping it… To get that washed out water color look! I also inked the edged and splattered on some vintage photo distress ink. After that, I sprayed the paper with water and crumpled it in my hand to make it wrinkly….

I heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder onto cream cardstock and used the matching die cut. It cuts the exact perfect image!

4th of July Prayer by Edward Hays

We lift up our hearts, O God, on this day of celebration in gratitude for the gift of being Americans.

We rejoice with all those who share in the great dream of freedom and dignity for all.

With flags and feasting, with family and friends, we salute those who have sacrificed that we might

have the opportunity to bring to fulfillment our many God-given gifts.

As we deny all prejudice a place in our hearts, may we also clearly declare our intention to work for the time when

all people, regardless of race, religion or sex, will be granted equal dignity and worth.

Come, O gracious God, who led your children Israel from slavery, keep us free from all that might hold us in bondage.

Bless our country and join our simple celebration that we may praise you, our Source of freedom, the One in whom we place our trust.

My second card for today is more clean and simple in design… I stamped the flag stamp using TE Ink Pads onto cream cardstock. I layered red cardstock and then my A2 card base. A layer of vellum is the only addition…

  • Sweet Strawberry Cards to celebrate Summer!

Helloooooo my sweet and crafty friends! How are you this fine day?! I hope you had an awesome weekend, and cheers to a good week to come! I have two posts this week! Yay! The other one will be on Friday! What's new with you? Are you creating a lot? Are you starting to get out and about some more? How are things where you live? We had a streak of 100 degree days but today it cooled off a little. I'm grateful for that! Seemed to early to be so hot already! My husband and I met 28 years ago on June 4th and we always celebrate that day as an anniversary!! So on Friday night we went out and had the yummiest, best dinner together! We went to a nice restaurant for the first time in almost two years! It was lovely and wonderful to be out, and dressed up, on a Friday night again! The restaurant was lively and full and it made me feel better to see all the happy faces. Maybe, just maybe, things are going to take a turn for the better! California has been locked down tight this whole time. We are ready to party!!

My post for today is showcasing some brand new stamps from a new company owned by my crafty friend Ivana! It's called Pigment Craft Co! I actually squealed when I saw this new release and I was online at exactly the moment these stamps went on sale to buy them!! I've been stamping for 27 years and it's pretty rare for me to get SO excited about a new release!! These stamps are modern, pretty, sweet, retro, and happy all at the same time! It's like she read my mind!! LOL. My stamps came and I promptly sat down and made these two cards!! CLICK HERE for my supply list for today!

The first card is good enough to eat! (On a picnic! LOL) The finished card is a cream A2 card base….layered with gingham of course and more cream cardstock. It has a vintage feeling to it – using distress inks to edge everything – and a big bold look!

I used bright red, pink and green inks to stamp the strawberries and leaves! I used my MISTI for a good impression. I ended up stamping everything twice for a rich inked look. So easy with the MISTI to do this. I stamped two strawberries with the tops, and one big leaf cluster. After stamping everything, I used two colors of Distress Inks to edge in brown around all the pieces.

I stamped the sentiment onto a small scalloped circle and inked that part also. I used twine and a button from my stash for some design elements!

I splattered white ink/paint onto the strawberries and leaves (just because!) and added green enamel dots to the tops of the berries.

Here is the berry/leaf cluster before I placed it onto the card. It's a big mama!!! SOOOOO pretty! This would be beautiful as a bag tie on, or on a package with some pretty gingham ribbon, or at the top of a glassine treat bag…. Lots of ideas!

My second card is also an A2 card base, but in bright white cardstock. I layered aqua and pink for that perfect retro/modern look. I love pink and aqua together….and a pop of red too! Yummmmm. I used the same ink pads for both cards. CLICK HERE for my supply list!

I stamped the Berry Patch berries, stems and leaves in pinks and greens… I stamped extra leaves so I could layer three different green colors. I used Copic Markers to add some little extra touches in a darker color (on the left side of the berries and on the leaves).

I stamped the sentiment in aqua and die cut it with the matching die. In this photo you can see the layers of the leaves. I used my MISTI to stamp all of these parts. Just makes it so easy and perfect.

That's it for today! I eat strawberries almost every single day during the Summer. They just say Summer to me – and in crafting too! We have awesome strawberry stands by our house and we get them straight from the ground and there is nothing sweeter. I tried to capture the feeling of Summer in my cards today! Have a good week and I'll see you soon! XO
