  • Pretty Pink Posh August New Release Blog Hop – let’s kick off Halloween 2021!

BOO! Did I scare you? I'm here today with all treats and no tricks! There's an awesome new release from Pretty Pink Posh, and I'm part of a super fab three day blog hop to help showcase the new release. AND….it's all Halloween! Yippeeee! I am READY for all the fall things (even though it's 100+ degrees every day this week)…. I'm still ready! LOLZ. I love making Halloween cards, and Pretty Pink Posh has the absolutely cutest stamps and dies every year for Halloween. This year is no exception. I'm very happy to share a card with you today. The release is already live for shopping in the PPP Store. I hope you're having a great week. Thanks for joining me today!

My finished card is a white A2 card base. I used traditional black and orange colors with pops of yellow, green and purple. I kinda feel like Halloween can be any color – but I like it bright and saturated! I used the brand new Halloween Wreath Stamps and Dies along with a couple of previously released stamps and dies. I colored everything with Copics and added bits of glitter for a cheery card.

I stamped the Halloween Wreath and die cut it out with the matching die. I die cut a circle to place behind the wreath and stamped the sentiment onto that circle. LOVE the fonts in this one!!

When I assembled the card I mounted the circle with the sentiment onto the card and then popped up the wreath over it with foam tape. The little kitty cat is from the Halloween Pals stamp set.

I die cut a couple of stars and added glittery orange enamel dots for some sparkle. You can also see my paper layers in this photo. I used the PPP Stitched Strips in black to frame a strip of gingham paper.

Altenew Artist Markers - new release blog hop

Hello! Two blog hops two days in a row! WOOHOOOO! I'm so excited for this week – so many fun things happening! Guess what? Another blog hop is coming on Friday! I've been busy! Today is a very exciting day indeed, because I get to help launch a brand new product from Altenew – Artist Markers! Yes, our friends at Altenew have come out with a wonderful new product line and today is the first day you can buy it! I was lucky enough to get one of the first packs of the markers to use, and review for you here today. I hope you've arrived from the very lovely blog of Svetlana Fotinia!

Altenew Artist Markers are alcohol based, allowing you to beautifully blend colors on any stamped images. You can also easily pair them with the Altenew Crisp Dye Inks to take your coloring to the next level! Here are the details of the first set: Altenew Artist Marker Set A - features:- Alcohol Based, Brush tip and fine tip on each end and, Organically designed for easy gripping. The colors included in Set A are: Frosty Pink, Coral Berry, Ruby Red, Grapevine, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, Evergreen, Jet Black, Sea Glass, Ocean Waves, Dusk, and Dessert Nigh. The colors even sound pretty! (and they are!!) The entire set sells for $44.99. The markers come with a clean container to keep them in (more photos below).

I made a clean and simple card today, showcasing one of my favorite Altenew Stamp Sets (Celebrations) colored with the awesome new markers. I wanted to feature the one floral bouquet to showcase the marker colors. My card layout is one of the ones I used often when I want to make a clean lines sort of card. The crisp white really sets off the pretty colors of the new markers.

I started with a white A2 card base and speckled some black mist paint onto it and set that aside to dry. Then I die cut two stitched rectangles, one blue and one white, and one stiched circle. I stamped the white rectangle in London Fog Ink from Memento using the pretty floral bouquet. I tried it in black first, but the grey is much softer and prettier with this image. Next I stamped and die cut another floral bouquet to use as my focal image. I always die cut before coloring – in case I mess up! If you've ever spent an hour coloring something and then didn't die cut it exactly right, you understand… I colored the image using only the markers in Set A. The colors worked beautifully together and blended very nicely. I love these pink shades so much.

I stamped the sentiments in black ink directly onto the card base before layering my other pieces. This is going to be a special birthday card for one of my friends.

These little Doodlebug Clips make great accents! I also added a few shiny silver sequins to complete the card.

These are the colors I used in today's project.

    New Altenew Markers!

I made some color swatches first thing, right after I took the markers out of the box. One very nice surprise is that you can layer the color to get a darker shade. Here I've used R302 to make three different shades. In the top swatch I colored one time. In the second swatch I colored twice and in the third swatch I colored three times. This is a great way to take your supplies further.

The markers are very nice to hold – they feel good in your hand. the tips are very sturdy and sharp. they are good for coloring and writing both. The black is super deep and crisp.

    SUPPLIES FOR TODAY!

  • Sunflower Sunshine Card!

Hi there friends! Whatcha up to this weekend? Did you get crafty? I hope your weekend was marvelous! I'm in the craft room this afternoon with my sidekick Mr. Buddy and I just finished a card I started yesterday. I have to tell you that I had THE BEST day yesterday!! I have been working lots of extra hours at work and feeling sorta burned out…. Yesterday I spent all day gettin' my craft on with a wonderful bunch of ladies. My friend Sharon hosts a scrapbooking day once a month – in her work conference room! Everyone gets two giant tables, and we had snacks and pizza and music and tons of natural light. My friend Caroline is Sharon's sister and she met me there and we just talked and relaxed all day. It truly did my soul good. I felt refreshed and calm afterwards. Just truly what the doctor ordered.

I worked on some more watercolor cards yesterday (I'll share those soon) and then I did some Copic coloring. Coloring relaxes me – does it do that for you too? I brought all 300 of my Copic Markers to the site so I could color whatever I wanted. Well, this adorable stamp set just came in my mailbox this week and I decided to color it. The set is from My Favorite Things and is called Sunflower Sweetheart! She is so cute!!

The stamp set has matching dies! NO, I did NOT cut all these pieces out by hand! LOL. Those birdies are soooooo cute!!!

    2_edited-1

You can see a tiny peek into the inside of my card…. I put another sunflower in there! The layers on the front of my card were made with the GENIUS die set from Mama Elephant – called Femme Frames! OMG where has that been all my life?? Seriously. You can see I popped up certain pieces with foam tape…

    2_edited-1

I started by coloring her dress, using four shades or true blue. I made pleats by adding darker blue lines going up the length of the dress with a darker shade. You really should try this – it's easy!! But the look is dramatic. Love.

    2_edited-1

Next I colored her face and cheeks using the shades int he photo…. I added some tiny dots with my white gel pen to her cheeks.

    2_edited-1

Next I colored her straw hat using several shades of brown and yellow. I made faint hash marks using a brown marker… Also, I wanted the top of her dress to be white… So I added very faint light grey lines to show shadows and to make the eye think "oh that's white." It's a little trick.

    2_edited-1

Sorry this photo is wonky… You can see here I've colored her hair and the flower…

    2_edited-1

Here are all my pieces ready for assembly. I cut a gingham rolling hill using a scene builder die from Taylored Expressions. Perfect. You can also see the Femme Frames layers here. The white layers onto the green, and then onto an A2 card. By keeping the color families the same on all my pieces it gives a very cohesive look to the finishes card. The birds are the same color as her dress, and the brown in her hair matches the fence. I have found that if you get too many color families going on it doesn't look as nice.

Now as if yesterday couldn't have been any better…. On the way home from the scrapbook day I stopped at the Outlet Mall nearby and found a KATE SPADE OUTLET!!! OMG. I thought I died and that this is what heaven looks like. Since it was their grand opening weekend everything was 40% off and then 20% more off! Wha WHAT???? Excuse me???? Um, so I had to buy these three things. Just had to. I got a new aqua wallet, that gorgeous bag and also a fun clutch! Me likey.

  • Crafter’s Companion – Spectrum Noir Markers and Paper Review – and a Birthday Card!

Hello my crafty friends!! I'm here today with a fun and cool thing…a product review! The people at Spectrum Noir were kind enough to send me a set of their Spectrum Noir Art Markers to test out. WOWZA! They were very generous and gave me lots of choices in ink colors, and also some wonderful paper. These markers are alcohol based so the colors blend easily and nicely. They come in color families also, so you can buy one color family at a time, which is a neat way to package!

I got out one of my favorite images from Taylored Expressions to color – the pretty pansies in a teacup – and went to town! I found that the markers were very easy to match and use. They come with a bullet tip and a large, broad tip. You can buy brush tips and change them out if you like. I found that I liked the small bullet tip for getting into those tight areas of coloring. And, I LOVE the paper they sent! The ink sort of glides on top of the paper for a second, so that you can blend before the ink dries. Very cool indeed.

    Here's my finished card:

    1

The pansies were colored with a few shades of purple and lavendar and I chose a nice aqua shade for the cup and saucer. The sentiment was stamped onto vellum with Stayz-on ink for a crisp look. When I color, I put down my lightest shade of color first. Then I go back over that with at least one other darker shade. Then, I use the lightest shade to blend over the image.

    1

I cut and colored a second one of the big flowers and popped it on some foam tape to add dimension and interest. I thought about adding glitter, but decided no… Can you see the nice blending of the marker colors?

    1

I hardly ever use purple….and every time I do I think "why don't I do this more!?" Such a soft and feminine look. I added some Doodlebug Sprinkles to finish off my card.

    1

Here are all the markers in their stand (the greys are in the smaller package) and the paper pack…

    1

The Spectrum Noir markers come in color families for easy blending. The FS colors will all have the same shade and depth of color…so will the CG, and so on. This is a great system for beginners or experts both!

I always use Memento ink pads when I color with Alcohol based markers…

Thank you so much for coming by today! Have a great weekend! We are busy as little bees in our hive this weekend. In between some things we have planned, we are turning our guest room into a home gym! We ordered our treadmill last night and also picked out paint color… The hubs is in there right now getting the room prepped. Can't wait to have it done! XO
