  • Spring Cards with Doodlebug – and Gingham!

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! And, tomorrow is MARCH already! Yay for Spring time! We have had the most beautiful weather here in Sacramento lately. Super sunny and warm and just right for the changing of the season. All our flowers are blooming, and my crafty brain is starting to think of Easter and flowers and spring projects. Today is my day up on the Doodlebug Blog and for my projects I decided to focus on my all time favorite Doodlebug product: Gingham Paper! I used pretty die cuts and bright colors and lots and lots of gingham for my cards to share today. I hope this post brings a smile to your face, and inspires you to create. Have a great week ahead! I am soooo excited because we are going to the Scrapbook Expo this coming weekend! It's been more than two years!!!

For years and years Doodlebug Gingham has been a staple item in my craft room. I have a stack of it on my desk about four inches thick! It comes in both 6×6 and 12×12 and I use it on everything! Today I was inspired by sunflowers and rainbows… And super happy colors. The small prints from Doodlebug (gingham, stripes, dots, etc.) can so easily work as 'neutrals' in place of plain cardstock. Try it sometime! I love this look and I really love to make die cut cards.

For my sunflower card I used the Doodle Cuts Nesting Scallop Dies and the Doodle Cuts Hello There Dies. The flowers and leaves were all die cut from the 6×6 Gingham Paper Pad. The finished card is an A2 Kraft Cardstock base. I layered Florals, vellum and white….

For my 'hello' sentiment I stacked two die cuts made with black cardstock and then added white accents to them too. I attached to flowers to the card using foam tape so they pop right off the card. You could use this same card layout and make the flowers any color to match your theme or favorite color. I just happen to really love sunflowers!

Here is a close up of my paper layers. I used LOTS of white gel pen accents to add visual interest to the gingham paper. I added a small embellishment I made with two Doodlebug Buttons and Doodlebug Twine. Oh, and I love to add hearts to my projects, so there are a few hearts and Sprinkles too!

These die cuts are SO crisp!! I love the stitched 'veins' in the leaves. I used two different shades of green to make the leaves.

My next card is a gingham rainbow! The finished card is a white A2 card base. I used the AMAZING Doodlebug Raindrops Vellum paper as my background layer. (This paper has shiny raised raindrops and it's so pretty), then a layer of white. I die cut the rainbow stripes and attached them to the card. I used the Hello There Doodle Cuts to make those fluffy clouds and the hearts.

I absolutely adore this sentiment from the Cute And Crafty Clear Stamp Set. I stamped it in black ink directly onto one of the clouds. It fit perfectly! This would be a fun card to give your creative friends!

  • Doodlebug Card Trio with Cute & Crafty!!

Hello MY cute and crafty friends! It's Monday, and I'm happy to be here sharing a fun trio of cards I made with the awesome Doodlebug Cute & Crafty Collection! This project is up on the Doodlebug Blog today too! Yay!  I am never going to get tired of using this collection!! My cards today will be perfect to set aside to mail out to my other crafting friends. I am featuring the DoodlePops as my focal point on each card. I used the same card sketch layout for all three cards – to feature lots of different patterned papers! This card sketch/layout is a good one to feature patterned papers!!

Each of the three cards is a white A2 card base. Then, I went to town with all the fun stuff!!

Each of these three DoodlePops is just too cute! One card features the sewing machine, one the craft caddy, and one a little shaker of glitter. Fun fact: My sewing machine is actually that exact color! It's so pretty – SO this is totally me!  I used the Doodlebug Textured Cardstock for my bottom layer, and then layered three different patterns on all the cards. I used white circles to feature the sentiments and the images.

I used stickers from the 12×12 cardstock stickers sheet for my sentiments.

Hey crafty friends! Today I'm sharing another fun project made with the Doodlebug Cute and Crafty Collection! I'm up on the Doodlebug Blog today too!  I am totally in love with this collection for making cards and presents for all my crafty friends. How nice to have paper, stickers and embellishments that are all centered around our favorite pastime – crafting! Yippee! Today I am sharing how I reuse and recycle other things using my Doodlebug supplies. Just about everything or anything can be covered in paper!! I made two composition books and a small organizer (or pencil) bin to show you today. These would be great to give a crafty friend, to send in the mail, or even would be fun if you wanted to host a creative event! There is no limit to how you can decorate and personalize this project. I buy the inexpensive composition books at Amazon or Staples!

I started each composition book by covering the front cover of the book with the 12×12 patterned papers. That was my foundation… Then I used all the other supplies to decorate the books. Flowers, gems, stickers…I love it all!

I really like to layer all of the things! Different textures and shapes! The Flowers are from the Cute and Crafty Bits and Pieces pack. The scissors are a Doodlepop! I also added some tabs…. Perfect for organizing your thoughts.

I used pieces from the Chit Chat package, the Odds and Ends package and the Bits and Pieces package. It's so easy to craft when everything matches perfectly.

These are the plain composition books and the tin I started with. I always save cool tins and boxes to repurpose! (oh and I love cookies, LOL). I like this size because it holds a gift card and some candy and you can make a matching card too.

  • Fun with Doodlebug – Cute & Crafty Pocket Letter!

Hi everyone! Is it just me, or did this week go by in like five minutes?? Whew! The good news is, it's almost Friday! I'm up on the Doodlebug Blog today with a super fun project! Have you ever made a Pocket Letter? It's one of my favorite projects to make and send – especially to my crafty pals! And, it's a great way to use lots of pretty elements from a paper collection! Today I used the awesome stuff from the Doodlebug Cute and Crafty Collection to make a happy, colorful Pocket Letter! There are a million different ways to decorate and embellish a Pocket Letter. The main thing is to just have fun with it! Here's another one I made a while ago!

To make a pocket letter, you start with a clear Trading Card plastic protector page and then start creating! The finished letter folds into thirds and fits into a business sized envelope (4" x 9") for mailing. Sure to make the recipient smile! Here's my pocket letter for today!

Each little rectangle is approximately 2.5" x 3.5" like a trading card. Each pocket is a tiny space to create! I love to use sequins in some of mine to make is sparkly. I used a Fuse Tool to seal the top of the plastic once the sequins are inside. I am obsessed with the Doodlebug Rainbow Sequins in those tiny jars. I used the Cute and Crafty 6×6 Paper Pad and the 12×12 Paper Pad for the various pockets. I also used stickers, the Chit Chat elements and the Odds & Ends elements. No limit to what you can create! All the supplies are in the list at the bottom of this post!

Craftiness is Happiness!! See those pretty sequins? So fabulous!

For this pocket, I used pretty pink polka dot paper and added white and silver sequins. Then I tossed in a cute pie stamp! The top is fused shut using my Fuse Tool, so they won't shake out!

I buy my Trading Card Pages from Container Store, but you can find them most anywhere! If you're not familiar, the Fust Tool is a long skinny tool with a wheel at the top. The wheel gets very hot and you run it along the plastic and it melts the plastic together to seal up crafty things!

doodlebug, cute and crafty collection, doodlebug cute and crafty, pocket letter, fuse tool, make a pocket letter, crafting theme, card ideas, diy, stamping, scrapbooking, doodlebug design team, sequins, washi tape, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

A little "extra" embellishment on the top to keep it closed once I fold it up! For these top two pockets I used the same pencil paper and made it go across two pockets as the background for the large word pieces!

Here's my bright yellow envelope. I found this one in my stash. So I decorated that too of course!

Happy Crafting! As my last step, I added hearts and enamel dots all over the place to make it even more cheerful and colorful. I think we should put Doodlebug Hearts on everything!!
