  • Who wants cake?

Hi everyone! Just popping in here really quick today! Happy Christmas Eve! We will be going out to a nice dinner and then going to evening service at church tonight – that is our tradition – and I really look forward to it so much. Our church has candlelight service and it's magical to see all the candles in the dark sanctuary, and hear everyone singing. It's one of my favorite things of the entire season. I hope you and your family have a great day today!

I'm posting a sneak peek of a project I have up on the Simon Says Stamp blog today! It has NOTHING to do with Christmas! LOL. It's a really bright and colorful birthday card made using Reverse Confetti products. Hint – there's an adorable alligator! I hope you'll head over to the SSS blog and leave some love – as always, there are prizes! Take care! XO

  • Have a Holly Jolly Christmas….Elf! I’m an MFT Guest Designer today!

Hellooooo! Here I am again popping in with a fun and very jolly card! Today is my second post as a Guest Designer for My Favorite Things! Woooot wooooooot! Thanks to the lovely peeps at MFT for inviting me and giving me this honor! I was so happy to be involved in the fun this month! My last card for my Guest Designer gig was made with an adorable Pure Innocence image. Well, the other line of stamps that I am CRAZY about from MFT are the Birdie Brown stamps drawn by the amazing Torico. Remember those super cute Santas last year??? EEEK. Well, this year there are elves!

I made a clean and simple layout so I could feature the awesome little elf and the gorgeous new words set too. (links at the bottom) I kept it really traditional – with red and green. Take a look!

I colored my little elf with my Copic Markers and then cut him out with the matching die. On my white background layer I stamped my sentiment and some little star images. Then I added a fun mix of rhinestones and enamel dots. 🙂

  • Sledding by with a card – I’m an MFT Guest Designer!

Hi everyone! SUPER excited today to share that I am one of the Guest Designers for My Favorite Things this month! YAHOOOOOO! You all know that I am such a fan of all the wonderful MFT products, and have been for years. When they asked me if I wanted to join them….it was only one hot minute before I said YES! I'll be sharing two projects (one today and one next week) made with the delightful October New Release items. CLICK on over to the MFT Blog and check it out – they always have something really fun happening there!

My card for today features the adorable "Dashing By" stamp set. This is one of the Pure Innocence images that I love. I'm pretty sure I have them all. This particular stamp line from MFT is what first made me check out their stamps many years ago. They have a place in my heart. For October the Pure Innocence image is the cutest little snow girl, sledding by dressed in her winter clothes….

My Favorite Things Pure Innocence stamps - Card by Wanda Guess

My color palette for my card was inspired by the beautiful MFT gingham papers. I used the mint green shade. I used the patterned paper to match my Copic markers so that the whole project matches. I used a medium pink/rose shade as my accent color. Isn't she cute?!

My Favorite Things Pure Innocence stamps - Card by Wanda Guess

I stamped my sentiment onto a flag stax and then added a heart and a snowflake charm. The Circle die is new this month too! I added pretty aqua snowflakes before mounting my image with some foam tape. The stamps all have matching dies — I love that.

  • Halloween Ghosties! Sure to make you smile! — Lawnscaping Challenge

Hi peeps! Happy Monday! Today when I woke up it was cold in our house! YAY! That makes me so incredibly happy! The weather has turned….I hope! I always sleep so much better when it's cold outside. I had a very nice and busy weekend…and hope you had a great one too. Friday I got to see Rob and Judi from Judikins who were here in town, and I had date night with my friend Stephanie at our favorite restaurant. Saturday night I had dinner with the very lovely Cindy Lawrence who was here all the way from the East Coast! She was in Sacramento, teaching Copic classes. We had a great visit and a tasty dinner. I got in some stamping time, and also a visit to the Scrapbook Expo. Wow – so much going on!

I started a Lawn Fawn Halloween card Saturday but didn't get it quite finished…. Well, when I woke up this morning I saw that the Lawnscaping Challenge this week is "Too Cute to Spook!" That was the incentive I needed to get my card finished and posted today. I adore this stamp set – it's been sitting on my desk for weeks! Talk about fun! Here is my card….

Lawnscaping Challenge! Halloween card using Lawn Fawn stamps - by Wanda Guess. Booyah stamp set

Seriously! How cute are these ghosties!!!??? I'm dying! This stamp set is so fun. See the tiny stitches on Franken-ghost? Yes, that is a teeny tiny stamp!! Who does that? I love the sense of humor of this. Dracula-ghost has a red bow tie, and witchy-ghost has a teensy broom! OMG. LOVE. For my background I made some light grey clouds using this technique. I stamped some stars too. Every stamp for the ghosts has a matching die.

    1

All the images were colored with Copic Markers. I popped the ghosts with foam tape when I put them on the card. (of course I added Glitter Sprinkles enamel dots)

And you all know how much I LOVE nautical!

Simon Says Stamp - new release - card by Wanda Guess

Some pretty layers, in one of my favorite color combos – aqua and red! I used the SSS Audrey Blue Ink Pad to make my splash and my fishies. The fonts in this set are outstanding! Love the sentiment…

    1

You can see that one layer of waves is cut flush against the white part of the card. Then I layered another wave over the top. To add dimension, I took a white gel pen and added some dots. Finished off with a few blings!

Next up is a sailboat card using the amazing new Summer Greetings dies along with the Sail Away Stamp Set and dies. I used my Copics to match some bright cardstock colors. And another fabulous sentiment stamp!

My little boat is popped up off the page with some foam tape. I love using my Copics to exactly match my cardstock. Makes a nice polished look when everything matches. (my OCD tendencies showing!)

  • Papertrey Ink March 2015 Blog Hop! Aqua and yellow birthday cards!

Hey crafty friends! It's the 25th of the month already…and that means time for the Papertrey Ink Customer Blog Hop! YAY! I absolutely love participating in this hop each month. I love their products (of course) but I also love the concept of having a blog hop that's open to anyone and everyone. Really a chance to share with each other!! You can post from a blog, or from Flickr, or anywhere you can post a photo and link to it!

This month's 'challenge' or theme, is a GORGEOUS inspiration image with shades of aqua and yellow. What a cheerful color palette for Spring crafting. I set a rule for myself…NO butterflies! LOL. Yeah, I can be a little bit craaaaazy with the butterflies. So my cards for the hop feature cupcakes and birthday cards! (and maybe one wee butterfly! LOL)  I just went straight from the colors in the inspiration image and went to town with the new (to me) Bakers Dozen stamp set and coordinating pieces…. Take a look!

Papertrey Ink Bakers Dozen stamps. Card by Wanda Guess for the March blog hop.

It's SPRING, so you know for sure that I'm going to be busting out the gingham on every card for a while! Good thing I have a lot of it hoarded away! I adore this yellow and white gingham with pretty and clear aqua. Delicious! I cut some rays from the new Blue Skies set!! Awesome!!! I felt that there needed to be something behind the frame on that card…

    1

After I made one card, I had to make another one! I used the same supplies and changed up the layout a bit. Those little tiny cake stand dies kill me!!

    Here is the inspiration image:
    1

Here is a shot to show my layers. The banner piece is popped up with foam tape on top of the frame die. The stamps match perfectly inside the banner! I added just a little bit of Copic Marker to the banner…a light aqua. Enamel dots are always a good idea!

    1

And the layers on the smaller card…. This card is a square – kept Clean and Simple!

    1

Only a few Copic markers needed for this project! I also added clear Wink of Stella to the images. It's really hard to show that little shimmer in the photos…but it's there!

  • Wishing you a magical (St. Patrick’s) day!

Hello crafty friends! Top O' the day to you! I know I'm a wee bit early for St. Patrick's Day, but I couldn't wait to post this fun card! Get ready to wear your green next week!

EEP. Such cute stamps from Paper Smooches! I can't take it. Boy, this was a fun one to make and color. How is your week going? Mine is busy, and good. I have a friend who is in town for work so I've been able to have dinner with her and catch up – love that. Friday night I get to go to another friend's house (she lives on a big horse farm) and see some baby goats! it's just been kind of a fun and wacky week! In a good way.

Anyhoo….on with my card. These stamps are from the "Magical Spring" stamp set from Paper Smooches. I used some of my favorite dies too and here you have it – a Clean and Simple St. Patty's Day card!

Paper Smooches Magical Spring stamps. Card by Wanda Guess

Um, seriously how cute are those beer mugs?? Hee hee. I was going to make green beer…but I liked the contrast of the yellow instead! This fun folded banner die is from a set from Mama Elephant (links at the bottom of my post)

    1

I added a couple of sequins here and there to just make another little pop of green… The dies match and cut out the stamped images perfectly. I love that.

The leprechaun and the beer, and banner, are all popped up with some foam squares on top of my paper layers. Can't go wrong with some bright spring green and some gingham…

  • Flickr Challenge! Lawn Fawn and Simon Says Stamp – Craft with Kraft!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! Yesssss! OMG I am sooooooo excited to share this card today! I went down to Scrapbook Territory last week and got my new LAWN FAWN goodies and could not wait to ink them up! The new Lawn Fawn stuff was very high on my list of 'must haves' from CHA. The stamps are just so happy! So I was already excited… Then….I saw that Barb was hosting a Simon Says Stamp + Lawn Fawn Flickr Challenge! A match made in heaven if you ask me!

The theme for the Flickr challenge is Craft with Kraft using Lawn Fawn and SSS products. NO problem! I sat down with the Gleeful Gardens set and my Copics and went to town. These images are just so delightful and fun to color. This card makes me happy! I hope it makes you smile.

Lawn Fawn Gleeful Gardens - card by Wanda Guess

I stamped and colored all my images first and then cut them out with the perfectly matched dies. It felt good to get the Copics out – it's been a while. I just chose really cheery colors and bright colors. I wanted to match the pretty aqua and green paper borders to my snails as the focal point.

I stamped the sentiment right onto my card base with rich black ink. The finished card is 5 inches square. I like a square card, don't you? I wrapped some twine around my layers before putting them on my card base.

  • Spooky Cats! Fun with Simon Says Stamp Halloween!

Hey friends! I'm back from Iowa! (see bottom of my post for more deets) and spending some time in the craft room again! So I took yesterday off work to regroup from my trip, and I needed to get crafty! I have lots and lots of Halloween ideas in my head and I have to make some stuff! LOL. For today's project I used the uber cute Simon Says Stamp dies and stamp sets to make a pair of cute Halloween cats!

Simon Says Stamp Halloween Card by Wanda Guess

I stamped and colored my spooky kitties with my Copic Markers. At the end I added some pretty Stickles! I created a window using two nesting oval dies. I like that pop of purple on Dracula kitty's cape against the black!

    1

I die cut the Halloween word die and then gently curved it with my fingers when gluing it down – so that it would match the curve of the oval. Then I stamped some cool black bats!

A little more about my long weekend! It's so nice to be back here sharing with you after a SUPER fun, fabulous, exciting, crafty weekend. OMG my face hurts from smiling and laughing so hard. I got back late Sunday afternoon from my whirlwind trip to Des Moines, Iowa where I taught at Memory Bound Scrapbooks and then taught and helped out with Taylored Expressions Stamp Joy! WOW! The TE Event was amazing! Taylor worked so hard to put on a good day and she did just that. I got to see the TE warehouse headquarters (and go shopping) and meet the rest of the TE crew. I am SO very lucky to be affiliated with them. I saw old friends and made lots of new friends too. I came home renewed and relaxed. Thank you for all the hugs and kindness I received while I was in Iowa. To see all my photos of the event, and behind the scenes, please 'like' my A Blog Called Wanda Facebook page (link on left sidebar).

    Here is a great photo of the group: Taylor, Jen, Me, Sankari, Stephanie, and Lori! {love}

  • Witch way to the candy?!

Helloooooo there! How are you? How is your weekend going so far? Mine has been pretty busy and fun actually! I cannot believe it's almost five o'clock Sunday night and another weekend is almost over. Dang. How does time go so fast? And I have to go make dinner after this.  Anyhooo… Yesterday among other errands I picked out new eyeglasses. That is so hard, isn't it? Such a big decision. I had about 20 pairs all laid out in front of me…and finally myself, hubs and the sweet lady at the optician's chose these frames. They look like lace! Very cool and just enough funky! Hahaha. Friday night I went out for dinner and drinks to celbrate a friend's birthday…and today I am crafting (and chores too). It's gorgeous Fall weather outside – love it!

So, my blog this week is going to be kinda all over the place! The rest of the week I'm posting Christmas cards for two guest designing spots I'm doing! So I figured, what the heck, let's post a Halloween card today! LOL. I colored in these images two weeks ago and they've been sitting on my desk waiting to be made into a card… Witch way to the candy!?

I seriously LOVE coloring this MFT images. This one is Birdie Brown as a little witch! ACK. I colored in lots of images and then played around with them. I wanted to use them all! There are matching dies to cut out everything just so. I used my Copic markers and then at the end, added some touches of prisma glitter.

This crazy bat cracks me up! I am loving the kraft paper with the black….really crisp. My card layout was done using some brand new dies, also from MFT. They are called Blueprints 14. They concept is that the pieces of the die set make card sketches. This is my first set of these but I think I am going to get some more. Made it really easy to put everything together.

Lots and lots of foam squares on this card! LOL.

All day today in the craft room, Mr. Buddy was right by my side – either sleeping or just generally supervising the whole situation. I caught him in the window, and the light caught his pretty golden eyes, so I grabbed my iPhone and snapped this photo! If I do dare say so myself, he is quite the handsome chap! I love that cat!!

I will see you back here on Wednesday for the first of my fun guest designer posts. Until then, have a blessed week! Mwah.

  • I {heart} Fall!

Hello! I'm back today with more Fall crafting craziness! I stayed up late last night stamping and relaxing. Really what I needed. I worked so many hours this past week and I was brain dead Friday night when I came home from work. The one sure fire way to get me back in my groove is to spend the day (and night) crafting. (And watching college football) I have some cool things in the works to share later. I started Bible Journaling and did my first page yesterday. (You can see a sneak peek on Instagram) I will probably write an entire post about that and all the blessings that have come from this new art form… I am also going to be a guestie somewhere very fabulous at the end of the month. lots of good things to come!!

For today I have a cute and happy Lawn Fawn Fall card to show ya! I got my new Lawn Fawn goodies in the mail last week and wanted to use them quick. One of the things I'm working on is just using stuff – not hoarding it, or looking at it! LOL. Do you do that too? Well…I'm trying to reform! (Please do not look at the 30 Iris cases full of 12×12 paper that are behind me)….

    Here's my card for today!

How cute are these stamps??!! ACK!!! I used the critters from the Sending Hedgehugs stamp set and the Joy to the Woods stamp set! The sentiment is from the Into the Woods set from last year. Yep, those are the Stitched Leaves dies again too… They are my favorite!

EEEP! Critters in the Autumn Forest! I used the same brown tones as the patterned paper for coloring my animals. I tried making them different colors, but then they clashed with the paper. This way they blend in nicely. I wasn't planning it, but I kind of like the effect of having the animals soft in color – against the bright paper…

This paper collection is called Sweater Weather and I ADORE it already. The flair is also from that collection. The paper has the traditional colors of orange and yellow for Fall, but then pops in a nice soft teal with a raspberry color. Nice!

  • Go with all your heart!

MONDAY!!! OMG how did that happen? I'll tell you how…I've been sick and coughing up a lung for the last two weeks of my life and the days are all running together. Seriously….tired of being sick. Feel like I have the plague. And, when it's 105 degrees outside I might just be a bit cranky too.

Oh well…on with life, and another week begins. I hope you guys all had a wonderful 4th of July! In between napping and generally laying on the couch all weekend (and about 75 hours on Pinterest) I managed to get crafty. I finally inked up some of my new Mama Elephant stamps and used some of my new dies too. I'm trying really hard to use my new supplies!! I'm entering this card into the current Mama Elephant & Me challenge. I used the colors from the inspiration photo!! You have lots of time to join in too! CLICK HERE to go to the challenge blog!

These stamps are so completely adorable….

I used three or four different stamp sets to make this one. That panda is soooo sweet! And, I love the sentiment so much too. Just feels happy and cheery!

Just a few Copics for the balloons, nothing super fancy here. I thought about adding glitter to them, but decided against it.

Here is the inspiration photo from the Challenge! SO pretty!

The panda and the balloons, and the sentiment flag are all layered with foam tape. The yellow sun rays are a stamp – and I used some pretty Mama Elephant ink to make my bottom background layer. The clouds are made of vellum.

I'm trying something new with my card photos…  Instead of shooting them under my bright lights in the craft room, I moved out into the living room next to a window for some natural light. We live back in a green belt/canyon with tons of trees so we don't have tons of light flooding in our house. I do like the shadows, because it shows the dimension of the cards. Also, I think the colors are much more true. I am always striving for those "POW" card photos and love to try out different things!
