  • More fun with the PPP Winter new release – Joyful Penguin Wishes!

Hello friends! I’m here today with a second card I made with the lovely and cute new Winter 2025 release from Pretty Pink Posh! I shared my first card last week, and today I have another sweet penguin card! Today’s card is part of the huge multi day Instagram Hop for the PPP new release. I love a good Instagram Hop! Be sure to head over to my Instagram post today and leave a comment for a chance to win a prize! Woot!

I feel like these fun new penguins are perfect for both generally Winter cards and for Christmas cards. Last week I made a winter card…. So today I made him a Christmas Santa Penguin. LOLZ. I also made him an igloo at the North Pole, complete with a candy cane decoration for his porch!

  • You’re my jam!

Hey friends! Happy Monday! Today is a very Monday Monday! LOL. The first Monday of the new year. Back to normal, back to routine, back to non holiday things…. I put away the last of the holiday decorations at our house yesterday and now the house seems so….empty! Lucky misses the Christmas tree (he likes to sleep under it) and I miss all the coziness.. But here we are ready to get started on a fresh new year.

My husband went to bed early last night and the crafting inspiration struck me around 11pm….and I made a fun, fresh, colorful card to share with you today – courtesy of new supplies from Concord and 9th! You’re my JAM!! Hee hee. This would be a great punny Valentine card, and I love that berry purple…. My finished card is a white A2 card base, layered with Berry, then white, then gingham, then more white… Yeah, I like big layers and I cannot lie. The star of the card is that cute little jam jar! I added hearts and flowers and some strawberries to make a happy scene. I used ink pads to shade the jar and the berries. White ink was used to stamp the pattern on the kraft jar topper…. I love the little details so much.

  • The Year of the Dragon! 2024! Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Before I get started today, I want to say thank you to everyone who responded to my post from Thursday last week. Thank you thank you thank you! I received such overwhelmingly positive feedback. Notes, messages, coffees, shopping. SUPPORT. Thank you everyone! I'm going to keep going and I'm going to pray for your continued support through the year. Bless you!

Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Lunar New Year 2024! It's the Year of the Dragon! The Wood Dragoon, to be exact! And….I am a Wood Dragon so it is my year! Woohoooo! And since each zodiac only comes around 12 years that means that I am going to be 60 later this year! Holy guacamole. Not really sure how this happened, but here we are! So I'm going to embrace it! I love to celebrate and honor the Lunar New Year. I lived in the Bay Area for many years and I really came to know and love all the Asian cultures and the beautiful traditions and celebrations. Maybe this year since it's my year, I'll try to go to the San Francisco parade next month! That would be amazing. It's been a while since I attended a parade! The Lunar New Year starts on February 10th this year. Do you know what Zodiac sign you are?? CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT!

Last year was the Year of the Rabbit – CLICK HERE to see last year's card! Last year I made a super cool pop up card!

The Dragon is a majestic and lucky creature in Chinese folklore, symbolizing bravery, creativity, and innovation. According to the Chinese horoscope, 2024 is a year full of potential and opportunities for personal growth, professional success, and social impact. People born in the Year of the Dragon are charismatic, ambitious, adventurous, and fearless. They have confidence, independence, and vision. They are not afraid to pursue their dreams and goals. They are optimistic, ambitious and adventurous. They like to explore new ideas and challenge themselves. They are also generous, compassionate and loyal to their friends. CLICK HERE to read more about the Dragon!

One of the traditions of Lunar New Year is to give Red Envelopes to friends and family. For my project for this year I made my own custom red envelopes! I used traditional colors of red, black and gold and made the envelopes and decorated them with stamps and dies and stickers. This was really such a fun project!! I made three envelopes and the finished size is 5.75" x 3.75".

I used this GORGEOUS new die to make the lovely lanterns in red and gold. I layered two red pieces and then die cut the lantern again with gold paper and filled in the openings. I cut off the bottom part in red and made that part gold. I embellished with gorgeous red gems! This die is so pretty! I'm also envisioning it in spring in pastel colors – maybe a little banner?? Love it!

The Happy New Year was die cut in gold paper. In this close up you can see my stamping on the envelope! I used clear ink and different stamps to add bamboo and fireworks behind the main image. The cutest little panda bear die set fit perfectly on the front of this envelope! The blossoms are old stickers from my stash. I used black gems to add impact on all the envelopes. SO classy with the red and black together…

Each envelope is slightly different. Here I layered black and gold cardstock to make a feature for the beautiful lantern…. I stamped the fireworks in black and also the sentiment.

For this one I added the year 2024 in gold embossing along the left side of the envelope. I used a VERY old stamp set I've had for 25+ years!!! It's from All Night Media and it's fabulous. You know how you have those things in your craft room you will never get rid of???

All the envelopes are splattered with gold paint for good measure!

I made my envelopes using my Envelope Punch Board. Do you have an Envelope Board? If not, you should definitely consider it. It allows you to custom make your own envelopes to any size!! I use it all the time.  I stamped the bamboo on the envelope before gluing it together. SO much easier this way. I also used Distress Ink and a blender brush to ink the tops of the envelopes and shade them….it comes out so rich. Tone on tone distress ink blending – you gotta try it!

  • Guest Designing with Doodlebug – Sweet & Spooky Collection – Pop Up Halloween Card!

Hi friends! Happy October! YEAH! We even had some rain yesterday! Hope you're having a good weekend. So excited for my favorite month (well, one of them!) How have you been? I'm very excited and happy to be making a Doodlebug project and to be back as a guest designer on the Doodlebug Blog today!! You guys already know how much I love Halloween, and the only thing better than Halloween is….Doodlebug Halloween! I look forward to the new collection every Fall! Today, I'm sharing a project I made with the new Sweet and Spooky Collection. It's fantastic! I love how Doodlebug incorporated some aqua and pink in with all the other traditional Halloween colors. It's fresh and cute with just the right amount of spooky!

My card today is a pop up card! I made a little street scene for Halloween night – with trick or treaters, a haunted house, and some adorable ghosties! I used a die set that makes a pop up card – it's so simple and easy to put together.  I love that Doodlebug papers are double sided, so the front is just as cute as the back!! This card folds into an A2 envelope, and I used the awesome Cards and Envelopes Sweet and Spooky pack for the envelope.

I assembled my card from 12×12 Spooky and Sweet paper using the aqua spiderwebs paper as a nice neutral background. I used lots of stickers and die cut pieces to decorate everything! When I first started paper crafting it was a 'thing' to make cards entirely from stickers! And it's so easy with the gorgeous stickers from Doodlebug! I put the haunted house in the background and the cute trick or treaters…. And then I glued the ghosties to the top to make it look like they're flying around.

Those big cardstock stickers are perfect for sentiments! I used the Happy Halloween banner sticker across the bottom of my card and decorated with a few shape sprinkles.

Product reveals finish up today and the new release day will be tomorrow June 9th at 10am EST!! Are you loving the green theme? I have three more planty cards to share with you today. One is modern and two are tropical!! Ooh la la! This release is crazy cool!! Thanks for dropping by for day two…let's get started!!

THE NEW RELEASE DAY IS FRIDAY JUNE 9TH AT 10AM EST!

I am aware that some of my project photos are still missing from random blog posts! I can't fix it on my end (ugh) and I'm waiting for Typepad to resolve it for me. Thank you for being patient while this all gets ironed out. It's been super frustrating! Photos are my mode of communication and it's making me kinda cray cray!

My first card for today features two of my favorite new things from the release!! I'm featuring the Modern Planters Dies, the Woven Cane Background Die and the new Spider Plant!! LOOOOOVE! My finished card is an A2 white card base. I used the new Woven Cane background in kraft and layered it directly onto the card. Then I popped some teal in a clean and simple card design.

Here's a side view! Another fun sentiment from the brand new Way To Grow stamp set. I used white embossing on a black label for the sentiment. Keeping it graphic and modern…

I used two shades of green to make my spider plant….it's so realistic looking! I made my pot a pretty teal color and added shading with Copics… My 'feet' for my planter were made from woodgrain cardstock….

  • Concord and 9th 2023 Color Release – Final Projects and Swatches!

Hello my dear crafty friends! Happy Friday! How was your week? My week was exceptionally busy and went by so fast! We are about to have our first string of warm sunny days here and I am excited to get outside this weekend. Our yard is looking so gorgeous already because of all the rain we had this year. Tonight we are going to a concert at church that will also be a live album taping! Can't wait for that too. I have been undergoing some dental work and it's been hard and tiring. Going to the dentist is my only real phobia and I've been trying to not freak out about it. My husband has been lovely, and he's been going to my appointments with me for moral support. I'm basically a baby – LOL. My first crown and my first big dental issue since braces in the 70's. I think I'm over the hard part now….  I donated blood platelets and plasma again this week. I have been a blood donator for 40 years!! I only started donating platelets and plasma this year after a friend of mine had cancer and she explained to me how important the plasma is….and how scarce it is.  It really makes me feel good to do something that only benefits someone else. If you've never given blood you should try it at least once! I also went to a great Bible Study and have been blessed with a LOT of work!!! That's the update from here!!

Today's post is my last post with my last two cards and swatches made with the new Concord and 9th Color Release (YAY!)  Next week – OH BOY!! There is a new Greetery release next week, and a Pinkfresh Studio Blog Hop too! So be sure to hang out with me starting on Monday, okay?!

Let's get started on today's post…. It has been my absolute pleasure to share the awesome 2023 Concord and 9th Color Release with you!! Twenty five new ink pad and paper colors and fun new products…. I am sharing my final two cards and my last two color swatches. Did you order some things from the new release? Has your order come yet? Are you swatching?!

First up is this big BIG HUGS square card with a vintage funky retro color palette! This card features the brand new Mod Turnabout Stamp and one of my favorite older produts – the Big Hugs Dies!! I looooove this color combo – it's actually the first swatch I made with the new colors.

Here are the colors I used for this card!! I popped in that dark grey for contrast with the other warm saturated colors…. Delicious!! Reminds me of all the 70's houses we lived in when I was a kid! Ha!

I started by stamping the gorgeous Mod Turnabout with my MISTI and the C9 inks…. It is so fresh and pretty. I actually wish I could have this design as wallpaper!!

  • Pretty Pink Posh January 2023 New Release Blog Hop – Love in a Mug!

Hello my sweeties! Happy Friday – the first Friday of 2023! Happy new year again! LOL…. Seriously, wishing all of you a great start and hope you've had a good week! We have been having glorious magnificent rain all week. Our thirsty ground is soaking it up, and it's perfectly cozy inside by the fire. My favorite! My week has been pretty busy with work and organizing (and the dreaded taking down of Christmas decorations)…  It's time in the craft room to transition over to Valentine's Day mode! Hearts, and candies and cupids and all those fun things! I always like it when it's time for a new crafting season. I'm ready for LOVE! Today is day two of a giant three day blog hop celebrating the new Valentine 2023 release from Pretty Pink Posh! Woohoooo! Always so happy to be included in the festivities!! All the blog hop information and prizes, etc is listed at the bottom of my post today. Let's get started!!

THE VALENTINE NEW RELEASE IS ALREADY AVAILABLE FOR SHOPPING!!

So today's card combines two of my favorites things – coffee and love! Because I LOVE coffee! Hee hee. My card features the brand new Valentine Mug Dies and the brand new Love Shadow Dies. The Valentine Mug Dies pair perfectly with the previously released Winter Mug Dies. My finished card is an A2 card base made from cream cardstock. I like the cream cardstock instead of bright white sometimes. I made a pretty pink mug and then went to town adding all the fun accessories.

pretty pink posh, new release, pretty pink posh stamps and dies, pretty pink posh winter mug, valentine mug, hearts, valentines, valentine cards, diy valentine, make your own valentines, coffee theme, cardmaking, die cutting and stamping, card layout ideas, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

Here's a close up of that beautiful new Love dies set… I used red cardstock and shadowed it with vellum. Here you can also see my layers and placement. I affixed everything else to the card first and then glued on the love last.

I made my own background for this card and I really like how it came out! I die cut ten of the stitched hearts (that come with the new mug set) from cream cardstock and glued them onto another cream panel. I used Distress Oxide Ink and a blender brush to ink pink only on the top part of the panel. I used silver metallic watercolor paint to add some splashes and splatters. It looks so pretty in person!

pretty pink posh, new release, pretty pink posh stamps and dies, pretty pink posh winter mug, valentine mug, hearts, valentines, valentine cards, diy valentine, make your own valentines, coffee theme, cardmaking, die cutting and stamping, card layout ideas, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

I mean, who doesn't want a pretty cherry on top of some whipped cream and a coffee??? EEK. I die cut the 'stick' from white and red and then hand cut out some stripes. I stamped the words onto vellum banners and glued them on behind the stick part. You can see lots of yummy glitter. I used my Glitter Duster and Rock Candy Glitter for this part. Love it!

pretty pink posh, new release, pretty pink posh stamps and dies, pretty pink posh winter mug, valentine mug, hearts, valentines, valentine cards, diy valentine, make your own valentines, coffee theme, cardmaking, die cutting and stamping, card layout ideas, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

The new mug die set has cute little chocolate covered strawberries and a pretty spoon…

  • Honey Bee by the Sea!

Hi friends! Happy Sunday! Hope you are enjoying a wonderful Sunday afternoon…. Today is so peaceful at my house! We got up and went to early church because of the heat and got some yummy breakfast…. Now everyone is hanging out quietly and peacefully. Oh, and having ice cream too! My husband was in Los Angeles all last week for his work, and he got home late last night. Lucky is so happy to see him! (Me too!) Our little family is back together and all is right with the world again. I got some much needed time to myself last week to think and read and study and rest, and NO news or emails. I'm sure lots of you can relate – the hubs and I have been together in our house 24/7 for two and a half years!! Like not even one day apart. I needed a moment shall we say. Hahaha. Twenty Nine years and counting, and we're still best friends! I'm very fortunate to have such a good husband! (I'm the weird one for sure!)

When we came home from church today I came in the craft room and just started playing with no plan in mind. Well, I ended up making something pretty and thought I would share it with you, and maybe some stories too. I live in Sacramento California, which lately is as hot as the surface of the sun for lord knows how many days in a row. I'm delirious and my brain is melting. Whenever we get a heat wave like this all I can think of is OCEANNNNNNNN. I am an ocean person through and through. I started thinking about it, why do I have such an attachment to the ocean?? I guess lots of reasons. Everything good for me in my life happened at the ocean! I was born on the ocean to a dad who was in the Navy (Norfolk, Virginia). My family is from Carmel, California and I started my school years there. I got married (twice) at the ocean (One Pacific – Carmel, and one Atlantic – Cape Cod). I lived in Half Moon Bay for a while and saw the ocean every single day…. I went to college near the ocean… I worked in San Francisco for several years… When we go on vacation we always end up at the ocean or on a boat!! So many good times! My childhood got kind of wonky when my mom left for a new life, but I always had my grandmother's house in Monterey. Every good and pure childhood memory I have came from there and it was always misty and foggy and salty at her house… and I can easily conjure up the most wonderful scent in the world: Fog + Eucalyptus Trees. I wish I could bottle that scent and share it with you!! If I ever win lotto, I'm buying a big beach house and you can all come and craft with me! Doesn't that sound amazing!?  Anyhoo, I'm rambling and sharing, probably over sharing. But dang it, it's hot, and like I said all I can think about is the ocean!!! We are only about 75 miles from the ocean here, a day trip really, but it's been hot there too! I keep checking the weather for a good 50 degree foggy day and I'm outta here! LOLZ.

Where do you feel the happiest? The Lake? The Desert? The Mountains? Ocean? Leave a comment and let me know what your favorite place is!! I'd love to know!

Which finally leads me to my project! Ha! Last week I received the most wonderful and generous package of goodies from my friends at Honey Bee Stamps and guess what? It was full of Ocean-y Things! It's like they read my mind! Honey Bee has wax seals and wax melts now!! And Layered Dies of Seashells! OH YEAH! Everything is so pretty and I'll be making some more projects. But here's the first one! I have always loved wax seals. I have acquired a pretty good collection over the years and I have maybe 25 or so. I really love the look of them and the pretty designs and the details you can put on your projects… I created a plain card with a pretty vellum and paper wrapped envelope….sealed with a kiss shell. I used the new Wax Melts and Wax Stamper along with the new papers and dies. All the supplies are listed at the bottom of my post.

This is an A6 envelope in Kraft from Paper Source. I splattered on some white paint and let that dry. I cut an A6 notecard (my letter is on the other side). I wrapped the envelope with the new Vitamin Sea Paper and also some vellum. I wrapped twine around it. This part is like a belly band. It comes all the way off. I just have it like this for the photo. I die cut some sea grass from the new die set and then made my wax seal…

honey bee stamps, honey bee wax melts, honey bee wax seals, honey bee stamps seashells, honey bee stamps vitamin sea, envelope art, vellum, wedding invitations with shells, wax seal art, snail mail, wax sealing ideas, cards, cardmaking, scrapbooking, wanda guess, a blog called wanda

The sea grass is cut from green paper and then gently inked with Green Distress Inks. Here's a close up of that gorgeous seal and the paper. I'M IN LOVE.

I made three different wax seals in different colors.

I used the Vitamin Sea Wax Melts! Have you ever done a wax seal before? It's so easy! These little melts are so much easier than using the stick kind that has a wick. I put 3-4 of these little pieces into my melting spoon and hold it over a small tea light candle. They melt nice and evenly and you can see they make such a nice appearance. I encourage you to try it sometime! It's fancy!

  • Pinkfresh Studio April 2022 Blog Hop – Pretty and Graphic Florals!

Hi everyone! Happy Happy Happy Friday! I've got something fun to share today! Welcome to my stop on the awesome Pinkfresh Studio April 2022 New Release Blog Hop! If you're new here – welcome! This hop is so great – so many stops – so much inspiration! The link to all the stops is at the very bottom of my post so be sure to see everything! This new release, as usual, is full of gorgeous florals, beautiful hot foil plates, Innovative dies and more! They never seem to run out of ideas! Yay! I'm featuring a new floral set called Simplest Gestures (I used the stencils, hot foil, and dies) and the new Floral and Diamond Tiles Cover Plate. I also used the wonderful Pinkfresh Studio Ink Cubes and some of my previously released favorite products. All the supplies are listed at the end of my post. Let's get started!

My finished card is an A2 white card base. I layered black and vellum and gold! This card did not turn out at all like I planned – it kind of took on a mind of it's own and ended up super bold and graphic! That cover plate in black is to die for!!

    Pinkfresh Studio Blog Hop

Here's a close up of the design of the cover plate. SO nice! I splattered on some white paint and mounted it right onto my white card base. The black and white contrast really shows the design off.

The main event is the beautiful floral spray! I hot foiled it in Matte Gold foil and then used the stencils to color in the flowers and leaves. I used the Pinkfresh Studio Ink Cubes and die more of a soft blend than an all over color. I added black gems to the centers of the flowers. I also splattered on some white ink here. I wanted another element and it came to me – butterflies! I used the same foil and the Small Butterflies hot foil plate – on vellum! They came out perfectly. I have never foiled on vellum before. LOVE.

    Pretty Pink Posh Blog Hop

I started by creating my pretty shaker element using the new Butterfly Shaker Die in a medium aqua/teal color. I filled it with teal and yellow gems, sequins and beads. The shaker element is the star of the show here!

I stenciled the background using new stencils and pretty inks with my blender brushes. I splattered the entire panel with white ink also. I added more gems to the front of the card to tie it in to the shaker element.

For the sentiment I stacked three 'smile' die cuts in black and affixed them to the card over a vellum circle. I like a pop of rich black against all the other bright colors. Makes the sentiment stand out!

  • Spring Cards with Doodlebug – and Gingham!

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! And, tomorrow is MARCH already! Yay for Spring time! We have had the most beautiful weather here in Sacramento lately. Super sunny and warm and just right for the changing of the season. All our flowers are blooming, and my crafty brain is starting to think of Easter and flowers and spring projects. Today is my day up on the Doodlebug Blog and for my projects I decided to focus on my all time favorite Doodlebug product: Gingham Paper! I used pretty die cuts and bright colors and lots and lots of gingham for my cards to share today. I hope this post brings a smile to your face, and inspires you to create. Have a great week ahead! I am soooo excited because we are going to the Scrapbook Expo this coming weekend! It's been more than two years!!!

For years and years Doodlebug Gingham has been a staple item in my craft room. I have a stack of it on my desk about four inches thick! It comes in both 6×6 and 12×12 and I use it on everything! Today I was inspired by sunflowers and rainbows… And super happy colors. The small prints from Doodlebug (gingham, stripes, dots, etc.) can so easily work as 'neutrals' in place of plain cardstock. Try it sometime! I love this look and I really love to make die cut cards.

For my sunflower card I used the Doodle Cuts Nesting Scallop Dies and the Doodle Cuts Hello There Dies. The flowers and leaves were all die cut from the 6×6 Gingham Paper Pad. The finished card is an A2 Kraft Cardstock base. I layered Florals, vellum and white….

For my 'hello' sentiment I stacked two die cuts made with black cardstock and then added white accents to them too. I attached to flowers to the card using foam tape so they pop right off the card. You could use this same card layout and make the flowers any color to match your theme or favorite color. I just happen to really love sunflowers!

Here is a close up of my paper layers. I used LOTS of white gel pen accents to add visual interest to the gingham paper. I added a small embellishment I made with two Doodlebug Buttons and Doodlebug Twine. Oh, and I love to add hearts to my projects, so there are a few hearts and Sprinkles too!

These die cuts are SO crisp!! I love the stitched 'veins' in the leaves. I used two different shades of green to make the leaves.

My next card is a gingham rainbow! The finished card is a white A2 card base. I used the AMAZING Doodlebug Raindrops Vellum paper as my background layer. (This paper has shiny raised raindrops and it's so pretty), then a layer of white. I die cut the rainbow stripes and attached them to the card. I used the Hello There Doodle Cuts to make those fluffy clouds and the hearts.

I absolutely adore this sentiment from the Cute And Crafty Clear Stamp Set. I stamped it in black ink directly onto one of the clouds. It fit perfectly! This would be a fun card to give your creative friends!

  • Happy Zesty Lemons!

Hello friends! How are you this week? I hope you are doing well and feeling good! Before I get started with sharing my project I wanted to say a few words. I've been mostly absent from social media, and not blogging as much as normal, lately. A lot of you have kindly reached out to me here, and on Instagram especially, to ask about me. The truth is, this year is only a few weeks old but it's already kicking me in the booty. I've been really sick for almost three weeks now. There are no Covid tests available here, but I'm pretty sure that's what got me. (We ordered our test kits and hope they show up soon, but by then I'll be better!) I haven't left our house in 15 days! I'm usually a very busy and social person and it's been so hard! I can only really remember being this sick a handful of times in my life. It has gotten me down, down, down. Like really down. I've been laying low and taking care of myself and sleeping SO much. My energy is practically non existent and my mental health is wavering. Lots of time in prayer and the love of a dear husband and sweet kitty have been sustaining me. For me, creating and crafting is a happy activity so I find it hard to create when I don't feel well. I also don't really feel like doing social media when I don't feel cheery. I have missed my daily Instagram Stories with you and hope to get back to that soon. My super power is pretending I'm fine – even when I'm clearly not fine. I'm sure lots of you relate to that coping mechanism…. It's okay to not be fine. The whole past two years have been slowly chipping away at my positive and joyful outlook on life. I feel weary and heavy. I'm only telling you all of this because I know I'm not alone – and maybe me saying something will make someone else feel understood. This recent time of our lives has been a test, a battle, a marathon. We're all doing the best we can and we all need grace. I've been stumbling and that's okay. The lesson, I think, is to not be so hard on ourselves. Rest when needed. One day at a time. I am feeling somewhat better today, finally, thank God. So I spent some time in the craft room and made something pretty!! I'm sending everyone a big giant hug and lots of love. Hang in there – whatever you're dealing with – I love you. Thanks for supporting me. XOXO

My card today features some lovely zesty lemons from Spellbinders! These dies have been on my desk for at least a month and I've been dying to make a card. I love lemons as a design element. I chose a retro 50's color palette and used a beautiful background die that reminds me of a pretty 50's tablecloth. These dies are SO pretty and the creating was fun and easy. My finished card is an A2 card base in white. I layered pretty aqua paper and then a vellum circle…

I started by die cutting out all the necessary pieces…lemons, leaves, flowers and sentiment…. I used my mini distress inks and a small sponge dauber to gently ink around the leaves and lemons. I used Copic Markers to add color accents to the flowers. I used lots of the brand new gems from Spellbinders! They are so sparkly and pretty in person.

The lemons die set has the main leaf cluster, and then leaf halves that you can die cut from a second color. I chose two shades of happy yellow/green. In this photo you can really see that pretty background die. Love it!

I used dark grey cardstock for the sentiment and put it onto a circle to make it stand out. I really like this font – it also had that retro feeling I was going for! At the last moment I added some pink flowers from another die set. I really felt like I wanted a tiny pop of pink on this card.

  • You Perk Me Up!

Hi friends!! Happy Monday – on the strangest week of the year! LOLZ. This week is so weird – like what day is it even? Is Christmas really over? How can it be a new year already? Wait, what day is it again? Monday? Hmmmm…. I hope you all had a wonderful and lovely Christmas weekend! Our holiday was very quiet and peaceful. We spent a good amount of time at church and it didn't rain on Christmas day which was perfect. I made beef stroganoff for dinner – and we're having it again tonight. Yum. My husband bought me this very cool electric kettle and I love it already. And now here we are, awaiting the joys that 2022 will bring! But you know what? We've made it through this super hard year, so cheers to us!! XOXO

I got into the studio today for the first time in a week or so. Just a quick post here! I was a bit rusty so I just picked up some pretty patterned paper that's been sitting here for too long. I made a quick card. No stamping – just paper and stickers and fun embellishments… I have some Valentine stamps and dies here already for assignments and blog hops!!

This card is an A2 white card base, layered with deep black cardstock. The the pretty patterned papers!! I wrapped the card with some twine and added enamel dots as embellishments. It's such a nice soft color palette. And you know I love a coffee theme!!

The card layout is from my Pinterest Board called "Card Sketches and Layouts" if you want to take a peek. I refer back to this when I want to use my patterned papers!

I stamped the background of that top cream layer – using a small pattern builder stamp and Antique Linen Distress Ink. It's just the most subtle pretty pattern, but makes a difference in how the card feels. I also edged that layer with distress ink. This has a bit of a vintage fell to it.

I stamped the wreath three times: gold, orange and red inks. I used two different shades of each color – you can see the subtle tones in the stamping. Then I die cut out all the pieces and arranged them to use each color. All of the pieces were splashed with my favorite gold ink.

  • Make it Pink – Breast Cancer Support – Card and Blanket Projects

Hi everyone! How are you doing? I hope all is well in your neck of the woods! We are doing good here, and enjoyed a nice fun weekend! We went to the Tiki Bar, and to the movies and to the flower farm…. Lots of good things! I’m also getting caught up around the house and in the craft room too. Today I’m sharing a really special project – because it was made for a friend. One of my friends from high school is going through chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer right now. She has many weeks of treatments to go but she’s doing well so far. On Facebook, another one of her friends signed up for people to bring meals to her and her family while she’s not feeling good. There is an app/website called Meal Train and it’s very cool. I had never heard of it before. Basically, there’s a calendar, and people can sign up for a date to bring dinner over to the person’s house. Isn’t that nice?  I signed up for a date – and it was last Thursday. When I signed up I was like, well, of course I’m going to make her a card…but what else can I make? I decided to crochet her a small lap blanket to bring with her to her treatments. Those ugly chairs!! I thought maybe something soft and squishy and pretty might bring her some comfort. Today I’m sharing the blanket, card, and tag I dropped off for her last week. It’s all a vision in pink and it was surely a labor of love. I really always prefer crafting with a person or occasion in mind. I think of the person the entire time and it’s good energy!

Here’s the card….The finished card size is an A2 white card base. Layered with pink and then pretty floral paper, and then a white layer. Can’t go wrong with pink, black and vellum. Very classic.

Here’s a pic of the card, blanket and tag. (And you know I had to make some pom poms too)…

It was actually hard to find an Awareness Ribbon Die!! Some were really expensive, or too big…. But then I discovered this one on the SSS website. It’s the perfect size for cards or scrapbook pages! And it is only $5.99. I’m glad to have it in my stash because you can die cut it from any color for any cause. It’s a good one to have in my stash. Here’s a top down view of my layers and elements.

I stamped the sentiment onto a vellum strip using Stazon Ink. My embellishments include pearls and enamel dots. I loved combining all the different shades of pinks.

To make my focal element – the ribbon – I die cut 4-5 ribbons from pink cardstock. I glued them all together to make it a nice thick piece. I used distress inks and a blender brush to add color to the ribbon. I put tape over it and brushed on the color. You could also use Copics to do this part.

Here’s the finished blanket! I used three shades of pink yarn, and white yarn. I created an ombre pattern with the colors, starting with the darkest color and finishing with the darkest color. It’s about 3’x3′ square. It’s a granny square blanket pattern – which is so easy….just one stitch the entire time. I finished off with a scallop edge. It’s super soft yarn and it is so pretty in person – all those colors.

When I make a blanket for someone, I like to include a care tag… The washing instructions are on the back. I used the Papertrey Ink Made with Love stamp set to make the front of the tag. It’s the only stamp set I’ve ever seen that has crocheted by in it! I used pink ink on a pink tag. The stamp set is currently on sale too!

Here’s my ‘made by’ tag that is actually sewn into the back of the blanket in one corner. I found this breast cancer ribbon charm at Hobby Lobby and added it with a bow. The yarn is also from Hobby Lobby.

  • Candy Bar Favors with Doodlebug Papers!

Hey everyone!!! Nice to see you!!! I took a little unintended break the past week or so and just relaxed. My creative mojo has not been at peak form and I have just been super tired. So I gave myself a break. I didn't mean to, it just happened, and that's okay. Sometimes the ideas just stop flowing for a while and I've learned over the years not to force it, but to just rest my brain. I did some organizing and we went to the movies (yay!) and I got some other business things taken care of. How are you? I hope you had a nice long weekend! We had 100+ degree temps here and dang it, it's Summer! Life seems to be slowly getting back to a little bit of normal and it is bringing me relief to my anxiety. I'm grateful to be able to move about more and do things that we enjoy. I hope it's the same for you where you are!! Tip – go see Cruella at the theater! It was AMAZING!

My project for today is featuring Doodlebug supplies and Jaded Blossom dies! It's my turn on the Doodlebug Blog today and this project is shared over there too. If you have time – please head over there and leave some love for all the design teams' projects. They are amazing!! My project today again features the Fairy Garden Collection (my final project with this collection)….

I made candy bar party favors! They were so easy and so fun to make. Perfect for Treat Bags or Favors, or for a birthday, graduation, or even a shower… I made them to hand out to my friends! We all could use some candy right?? Oh! That makes me think of Halloween ideas!  I love the Hershey's Dark Bars, but any regular size flat bar will fit into the die. It would be easy to tape a gift card onto the candy first, or insert some money, depending on the occasion. Here are my four candy bar favors! Lots of pictures in this post because I want you to see everything! 🙂

My signature thing is details….I love adding all the little details to my projects! Here I used Doodlebug Chunky Twine and glued on Sprinkles – here a rainbow – to finish off the twine bow.

I love that the candy bar wrapper/slider die has a decorative edge!! I used hearts and rainbows and flowers!! These are the 12×12 papers from the Fairy Garden Collection.

  • The Greetery – Spring Market Collection – Day 2!

Hello Hello! Welcome back to day TWO of the launch of the new release from The Greetery! It's called Spring Market! Fresh and pretty and perfect for April, and on into the Summer! Did you enjoy day one? SOOOO much inspiration from everyone. I love looking at all the projects just as much as you do! I think it's cool that we are all given the exact same set of stamps and dies….but boy do we come up with so many different things! I love that part! So today is day two, and then tomorrow is release day. All the goodies will be available for shopping 4/28 at 10am EST. Yeah! What is your favorite thing so far?? Be sure to read all the way to the bottom of my post for news, prizes, and links!

For my three cards for today I decided to incorporate patterned paper! I loooooooove patterned paper and I have approximately 14,000 tons of it in my craft room. I thought – let's use it! Let's not hoard it! Maybe I can give you some ideas today to use patterned paper in your Greetery projects! Let's get started…

My first card for today features the brand new Tulips Botanicuts and the brand new Market Basket Die set! OOH LA LA! So pretty and fabulous! This finished card is an A2 white card base that I covered with floral patterned paper. I used the colors in the paper to inspire the rest of my card…

The star of the show here for sure is the tulips!! The die set includes all the pieces to make three flowers: one open, one slightly open, and one bud…along with several stem and leaf options. It was SO easy to put the flowers together (you know Betsy always includes a guide for us)…. I die cut the petals from pink paper and the stems/leaves from green paper. Then I used Distress Inks and small sponge daubers to add color to the pieces. I liked this better than starting with white paper. I also splattered some white onto everything…

Now, let's talk about those Market Basket Dies!!!! Yeeeks! LOVE! The die set comes with three sizes of baskets, liners, and handles. So you can die cut the perfect size for your project. I used the largest and the medium sized ones here. There is one more that is smaller. I die cut them from dark gray cardstock and splattered white paint onto them. I die cut the pretty liner at the top from the same patterned paper as the card layer. Then I backed them with vellum. The hat is a sticker that is from the same collection as the paper!!

Here's a close up of the handles on the basket! Betsy thought of everything! And that beautiful font for the words on the label….stop it!!!

My second card for today has a boho chic vibe to it, created by using certain colors and patterned paper! This card features the brand new and super cool Holding Hands Stamp and Die Set! It's a big set, with two hands and lots of things for decorating the hands and objects for the hands to hold. It's so creative!! I gave my lady a bracelet and a pretty sheer blouse… She's bringing a card and a bouquet to her bff…. The finished card is a kraft A2 card base, layered with patterned paper and then light aqua paper on top.

OMG how fun is this??? I die cut her bracelet from gold cardstock and added a tiny heart. Her blouse is from polka dot vellum… I used matching paper to line the envelope. See the details in the hand?? I mean, really?? Those tiny fingernails!!!

I thought that the card needed something at the bottom so I added a kraft bow with a heart in the center. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the aqua cardstock and also added gold splatters.

TIP: I found it easier when stamping the hand portion to stamp the smaller stamp first (The one with the shading and the knuckles) and then stamp the larger piece on top!! Then the fingernails last.

Okay, friends, one last card for this release! This card is an A2 white card base, layered with some coral/peach gingham and a pretty nordic circle… My card features the brand new Flower Market Bouquet Stamp Set and matching dies. This floral spray is BIG! And I love it! Easy to line up the images with your MISTI or stamp positioner and you can use any colors! I chose to use a desert inspired color palette: turquoise, coral and yellow – something different for me! It feels happy!!

The bouquet is all one big stamp, so it's so easy to get big coverage on the front of the card. I added a few white dots with a gel pen to the flower centers. I also added a few enamel dots for color.

I paired a bold thank you sentiment (from the previously released Opposites Attract stamp/die set) in rich black for impact. One quick tip to break up all that black ink is to add white highlights with a gel pen. Everything is attached with foam tape.
