• Minty Fresh Moxie Fab Challenge!

    Hi peeps!! Howareya? I hope all is well wherever you are and hope you're having a lovely week! I went into my Typepad account tonight to type this post and I saw, to my amazement, that I hit a milestone with Monday's post and I didn't even realize it! Monday's post was my 500th blog post! Wowza! 500? Seriously? I think that's pretty cool! I wasn't even paying attention. So….welcome to blog post #501! LOL. Not quite the same is it? Anyhoo, thank you so much for taking time out of your day to visit me and thanks for being part of my fun, crafty, bloggy journey! {{hugs}}

Today's post is my entry for the Moxie Fab World Minty Fresh Challenge! The challenge doesn't expire until 9-3, so get your entries in too. The challenge was to use mint green in a fabulous way. I decided to get out the felt again and whip up a nice big flower.

    1

This is the notched flower die from PTI and that lovely "happy" word is from Simon Says Stamp. The entire die says Oh Happy Day….but that all didn't fit! So, it's just happy. I love pink and green together and here I've used a pretty light pink and a darker raspberry pink to pop that patterned paper.

    2

One trick when layering flower die pieces is to use some foam tape between at least one of the layers. This way it won't be completely flat.

  • Stuff on a Monday….

Hi everyone! I know the title of my blog post isn't very descriptive….but I didn't know what to say. I just have a bunch of stuff to share, on a Monday. So there you have it! I got some time in my crafty cave yesterday and made some more cards for the Hero Arts August Contest. I'm posting two cards today and they are both very different… I did keep one thing in common, though, the color red. Hmmmm. Are you intrigued yet?

Did you have a nice weekend? Mine was very lovely. Friday night I worked late, and then we went and did our errands (shopping, gas, Walmart, etc) which I hate, but we got it over with so we didn't have to do all that on Saturday. Saturday morning DH helped me pick out my new eyeglasses! WOOO WOOOO! I got some pretty Kate Spade tortoise shell numbers, and with my insurance, they really weren't too much. I can't wait for them to come. After that we went for a long drive and out for some pizza. Very nice day.

Okay, I'm sure you've heard enough rambling, so I'll get on with the cards! One thing I love about the Hero Arts Contests each month is that they give you options and sketches. This first card was for a sketch image. I put the sketch farther down in the post so you can see it.

    1

I really like this warm color scheme as we move from Summer into Fall…

    2

This was me trying to figure out what colors to use. At first I thought I was going to use blues and greens, but I'm happy I went with the oranges and red instead.

    YUM!

    IMG_3699

These are the three colors I ended up with:

    IMG_3700

Here is my panel of butterflies. I stamped and cut out one of each color also, to put on later for some dimension and overlap.

    IMG_3701

You can see the extra butterflies popped up on some foam tape…

Too many blings? I'm not sure! LOVE this sketch and I'm keeping this one handy.

My second card for today is for the CAS Stamping part of the Hero Arts contest! And, boy, did I keep it clean.and.simple. That's hard! :-)

How cute is that little toaster!? I spent, like, an hour coloring in that toaster JUST SO. Well…as soon as I put glossy accents on it, you can't even tell! LOL.

    Totally fun, don't ya think?

  • Vintage Birdcage….

Greetings on this fine Friday! Another week closer to Fall! YAY! College football starts in two weeks and then it's full-on-Fall mode! I cannot wait! I hope you had a great week. Whatcha doing this weekend? I hope to get in some crafty time and then maybe a trip to the mall because I need to pick out new eyeglasses. I've been putting it off since it's such a big decision. I think this time I want something kind of retro and cool…I'll let you know what happens. I hope that you, my bloggy friends, have a super fun weekend!

Before I post the pics for today, I thought I would just shout out a reminder that all of the Taylored Expressions Baker's Dozen Design Team members have their own gallery with all of their TE projects! Here is the link to my gallery (CLICK HERE). Also, each stamp set has it's own gallery chock full o' crafty ideas. I hope you'll check it out!!

Today's card features some pretty products from my friend Taylor! One of my all time fav sets from Taylored Expressions is Birds of a Feather. Today's card uses that set with some beautiful, soft MME papers for a shabby chic feeling. Take a gander…

    Birdcage3 copy

I let the pretty papers guide my color scheme. Mixed and matched tons of the paper and cut it into pennant strips. I used a very very soft yellow and cream for my main colors. This stamp set has a cool font for the sayings…

    Birdcage7

I made this pretty litte embellishment from the Bugabee Flowers Dies…Just a tiny bit of color and depth with a pretty pearl in the center. These little flowers are perfect for cards…just the right size!

    Birdcage8

    Work in progress…

At the last minute I threw on some pearl swirls….why not?!!

  • Just a wee cupcake!

Hello! How's your week going? Hope it's all good! Buddy and I are in the craft room getting some stuff done tonight while DH is at the gym. A little quiet time to get caught up. Plus, I need to go to sleep early tonight. I'm pooped. I think all this heat we're having has zapped all the energy right outta me.

I made this fun little card last week and have been waiting to share it with ya! Combined a whole bunch of stuff together in this one!

    1

The background is embossed with a pretty new embossing folder from Lifestyle crafts. The cupcake was cut with PTI dies and felt. The large cream layer shape is also from PTI. That cute litte sentiment is from Hero Arts!

    2

When I went to put my layers together, I thought that the cream circle was too plain. I got out my background stamps and really liked how this one looked. I stamped in Linen Distress Ink.

    3

I used a sparkly button for a flower and hand cut those tiny green leaves. I thought I would 'pop' some more of the green by layering a circle of it. Purple and green is a beautiful color combination….

    4

I used my background stamp to stamp on my teeny pennant also. You can see it here in the background. This kind of ties everything together nicely. ๐Ÿ™‚

    5

    6

I found this on Pinterest and HAD to share it! Hee hee!

    Crafty!

A wish for you….have a cupcake-y kind of day everyone! Mwah. See you soon.

  • Birthday Fishes?!

Hello friends! Monday already? Yikes! What a fun-stamping-filled-crazy-crafty weekend I had! I taught four classes at Paper Garden, and shared time with some wonderful crafty gals! Lots of old friends, and many new friends…and even a tiny puppy! We had it all! Everything went well and it was good times! It was HOT again this weekend and lemme tell ya, it was good to be inside with the a/c going. THANK YOU to everyone who came out to class! I really appreciate it! Let's do it again soon. Well, maybe not too soon, I still need to unpack my car…LOL.

Today is one of my days to post for Taylored Expressions and I have a happy Summer card for ya! I used the awesome new Chevron Border dies and the also awesome new stamp set called Under The Sea. I wanted to use this cute whale image when this release came out…couldnt' wait to ink it up. The layout is clean and crisp, with some pretty royal blue paper… Take a look!

    Whale3

Isn't that a funny sentiment? Love it!

    Whale5

The new Chevron Die is a set of two dies….but actually you can get three different sizes out of it…because the piece in between the two makes another one! I cut out a bunch of bright blue chevrons and glued them to my white card layer. Then I cut them all at once to make it crisp on the edges.

    Whale7

How ca-yute is this whale??! EEEEEEEP! He's so happy. I colored him with a bunch of gray Copic marker colors and then went over him with BG10 which is a very light aqua…just to make him more oceany. Is that a word? It is now! I added some gray spots too, to make him look like a real whale!

    Whale9

You know me and my foam tape! I popped my little whale on some to make him stand out off the card. I think I will have to make more of these cards – I want to make one with the little crab from this set too…and maybe some red chevrons…too many ideas, too little time!

    Whale13

Here's a quick pic I took with my iphone in the middle of class yesterday! What a beautiful group, dontcha think? Have a wonderful week ahead! Thanks for stopping by today! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Neon is back!

Hellllloooooooo! It's time for hot August stamping here at my house! Whew…over 100 degrees all week this week! Ihope I don't melt! Today's post is another card for the August Hero Arts Contest. I posted one card already with one of the themes, and today I've combined two of the other themes into one card. The contest calls for neon stamping and/or Clean and Simple cards so I made a CAS neon card!  Neon is everywhere right now. Don't look now…but here come the 80's again! LOL. The new neon ink pads from Hero Arts are super fun. I only have three colors, and I'm pretty sure I need to get the rest asap!

What do you have on tap for the weekend? Are your kids going back to school yet? Some of the schools here are starting already. Hard to believe Summer is coming to a close already.  I'll be busy all weekend having fun at my classes at Paper Garden! I can't wait to have loads of grilie fun time with my stamping friends. Really looking forward to it. There is so much work to get ready for classes, and then when the day comes to do them…it's pure fun! Maybe I'll see some of you there! Whatever you do, hope you have a great weekend!

    Neon1

I have no idea where this cool paint splatter stamp is from! It's been in my stash, and it doesn't have a label on it. It's so fun, right? Perfect with these cool neon inks!! I thought rich black would contrast well with all that color. The sentiment is from Hero Arts of course!

    Neon2

I used some hot pink paper to add a layer to all that white…finished the whole thing off with some clear blings!

    Neon3

    Neon4

Well, that's it for me for today! Take good care and thanks for popping in for a visit! :-)

The papers on this card are all from the October Afternoon 9 to 5 Collection. I used the new TE Hexagon Dies to make my own embellishment with matching papers. Couldn't be easier. Hexagons are H-O-T right now in the crafty world.

I am sharing two projects today! First up is a fun, teen-themed card I made that's really graphic and crazy. I used the Doodle Notes Stamp Set, the New Clipboard Die, the Notepaper stamp and the Tall and Skinny Alpha Die set.

    Youandme3 copy2

Seriously?? How cute is that little clipboard die and notepaper?? ACK! I cut out a piece of chipboard to look like an old fashioned clipboard. I added the Notepaper stamp to my white paper to look like a page ripped right out of your binder! I put a shiny silver brad in the center of some grey paper for my clip piece.

    Youandme5

This very fun Chevron paper is from the Simple Stories Summer Fresh collection! It's perfect! I colored and cut out some arrows and that fun heart. The letters are from the Tall and Skinny Alpha dies.

For my second card for today I used the really neat new set that is made for bookmarks! It's called, appropriately, Mark Your Spot! I made a card that incorporates a bookmark that the person can take out and use. LOVE the new Bookmark die too – I'll be using that lots.

    Bookmark3

Here is the card with the bookmark taken out. I stamped some clouds and only put the right side up on some foam tape. That way, the other side of the clouds kind of holds the bookmark in place on the card. These stamps are really fun.

    Bookmark4

Here's a close up of the new Chevron border Die and that adorable yellow car! Beep Beep! I thought this patterned paper kind of looked like a checkered flag! It's from the MME Nostalgia Collection.

Today I'm featuring the super super cute Doodle Notes Stamp Set from the Whimsical Wishes collection, and an awesome new die called Notepaper Border. I made some little lunch box notes for the moms out there….I thought these would be so nice to tuck into a child's lunch box for a pick me up at school!

    Littlenotes1

I cut out three 3×3 inch notecards from white paper. Then I cut a separate sheet of paper a 1/4 inch longer and used the Notepaper Border Die on the top….Then I glued it to the front of the card. You can see what I'm describing in this side shot. I stamped the brand new Grid Paper stamp in a light blue first, and then put my images on top. Very crisp and fun for a kiddo!

    Littlenotes3

It's hard to pick a favorite image from this set, because I love them all…but this star image is gonna be a keeper for sure! ๐Ÿ™‚

Today I'm featuring the cute Little Schoolhouse Stamp Set from the Apple Doodle Ink collection. It's perfect for those back-to-school teacher cards and projects. I used a sentiment from another set - Moka Gwen, and some cute clouds from yet another set – Doodle Notes. Lots going on in this card! LOL. This was a fun card to make.

    Schoolhouse3

I hand cut, free form, three layers of green paper for my "hills" and then put my elements into the scene after I colored and cut them out. I made a heart using a die and some pretty red felt. This is an easy way to make your own embellies! The Back to School sentiment is from the TE Moka Gwen set….

    Schoolhouse7

I love using a basic kraft card base for my cards lately. All the other colors seem to really pop off the kraft. I colored and cut out the fun cloud/sun stamp from the TE Doodle Notes set. You'll be seeing a lot of that set this week!
